Caricol may not be okay for some as it has papaya enzymes in it. I haven't tried on yet but well, I have first hand knowledge that it WORKS! I've only taken one tube a day with, erm, good results...no cramping, bloating, etc either. You can buy it from Nutricentre and it comes in small tubes of orange liquid which mix with water to make a decent drink or can just be taken straight from the tube as it's not too strong. It's actually quite nice! Some other people use senna - I haven't used it but maybe if you are interested someone could recommend a brand, etc to you. All the best, Darla

Guest guest
Sharon, I would try Senna (stool softener) and Lactulose (Has an osmotic effect of pulling water into the bowel). Movicol works for a clear out too (eventually) and tho I would not use this long term its what we have used (well Miralax From the USA) for s bowel clear outs as recommended by Dr Krigsman, we also used Fleet enemas and Dulcolax Suppositories. We found that whwen we used Movicol daily it caused increased urination but who can say for sure if it was down to this alone..... Its all pretty vicious stuff (eg Dr Ks recipe) and, for Katy since you are seeing some black stools, I would ONLY do this under Medical Supservision. It sounds like that might be blood to me (but then hehe what do I know!!)... Its a toughy cos I have no qualms doing s bowel clear outs now cos its been OK twice I have done it, however I would not recommend to others because there are things like haemhorrage and something which I have forgotten name of which can happen too, I am not being very clear am I, I'll have another coffee.... Guest guest
Caroline That's really interesting has our son is on Movicol daily and he is constantly going to the loo to pee - i hadn't made that connection before so thank you for that! sharop
Guest guest
Increased peeing can of course be a sign of other stuff like Die-Off, a UTI etc... Try Oxypowder to keep him regular, its so great, one of my favourite all time products, oh how sad I sound!! Luv caroline xxx
Guest guest
Thanks Caroline - we checked out the UTI side of things but nothing going on there and it was pre biomed and constant - the movicol seems a likely culprit (don't know why the italics - cant stop it!!) sharon x
Guest guest
Hi Caroline, Thanks for the advise. My panic's over she's had an average BM tonight .I gave her Charcoal last night so maybe that's sorted it out.The black sticky pooh I wondered if Yucca could contribute to this colour,so I've cut back on this a little. When we've used Movicol in the past ,Katy got a bit puffy and weak and it didn't help that much. Just a clutching at straws ,scared the jerking and shaking comes back. I've got senna and the caricol should be here tomorrow if she need's it. Thank's a lot !! Guest guest
Nikki, I reckon I wasted 8 months trying Low Oxalate Diet. When I say that however I must qualify this by saying taht s bowel was particularly rubbish at this time so maybe that was the prob and nothing to do with the LOD. Itsa toughy cos has peed a lot this week towards the end but then I have just started a few new supps (low and slow is SO hard when thin gs going good, sigh, so am now cutting down again!! We are back on potatoes, carrots, onions, butternut squash, apples and I dont see much difference in fact no her bowel a bit better everything better really. I'm really not sure about oxalates, its kinda on my 'Yet to be convinced about list'... Glad its good for you. Lotsa Luv Caroline xxx
Guest guest
Hi Nikki How are you? Thanks for mentioning the oxalates angle - i'm too new to begin to know anything about oxalates but will try to find out and understand more - are there any obvious symptoms which indicate a problem with oxalates? My son complains of tummy ache prior to a bm but doesn't have any pain associated with urination. We are going to swop over to Oxypowder soon once we have worked out with the equivalent to his daily maintenance dose of Movicol. sharon xx
Guest guest
Hi girls, i've been following this thread on Movicol and increased urination with interest and was just wondering if any of you had considered whether your kid had problems with Oxalates? Caroline i expect you have you are ususally WAY ahead of me on most things ;+) Do your kids seem to have any pain during this frequent urination? Movicol use in some susceptable kids can produce excess oxalate crystals which irritate the bladder, which would cause frequent urination and possibly pain, so my research has told me. Might be something worth looking into? Nikki - Mum to Greg, 11 years old, ASD & SLD, non-verbal but has a smile that lights up a room when biomed is going well, BUT who also definitely has a problem with Oxalates, Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh > > Caroline > > > That's really interesting has our son is on Movicol daily and he is > constantly going to the loo to pee - i hadn't made that connection before so thank > you for that! > > > sharop >
Guest guest
Caroline, Hmmmmmmm, maybe its not a problem with , difficult to know isn't it, i wish all this biomed stuff was ******* straightforward!!! When ds oxalate problem was at its worse he was in considerable discomfort urinary wise and also the biggest giveaway for me was the food he was craving. He was even nicking celery and spinach from my salad and this is a boy that normally does not eat GREEN!!! Was that a clue or what!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Doing Low and some Medium foods has completely cleared up the above problem, which is great ;+)) Nikki > > Nikki, > > I reckon I wasted 8 months trying Low Oxalate Diet. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, with us all the problems we had associated with excess oxalates were urinary symptoms: excessive weeing, retention and then flooding, pain and discomfort before and when going, relief once he had been. Sounds a bit like a UTI doesn't it, which is what we had mistaken the problem for for years, either that or problems caused by being extremely constipated. It was good to find the real cause. Doing the LOD did away with all the above symptoms. There is a list if you want to know more: Trying_Low_Oxalates@... - i think! Many people on that list are getting gut and cognitive improvements as well, doing the diet, which is amazing! It will be interesting to see if your kids peeing problems resolve when you switch over to Oxypowder from Movicol, i think if they do improve that will tell you something, maybe to look into the oxalate problem more IMHO Nikki > > Hi Nikki > > How are you?
