Guest guest
Have any of you experienced discrimination by someone because of your weight, when they were overweight themselves? Maybe even larger? Very strange! What would cause this behavior? Thanks, Rhonda
Guest guest
That's odd. I remember an old saying: If you want to look skinny, you should hang out with fat people. Guest guest
i hope this is some kind of metaphor and not actually a hint n how to look skinny felicity > That's odd. Guest guest
I think it was meant as a joke. Guest guest
Self-loathing. > Have any of you experienced discrimination by someone because of your > weight, when they were overweight themselves? Guest guest
I'm not sure if this was a friendly joke, or sarcasm directed towards fat people. I'll take it as a joke. > > What I'm referring to, are overweight people, who reject or treat > > you differently because you're fat. Guest guest
I thought about this as well. But would an overweight person dealing with self-loathing, feel comfortable surrounding themselves with fit people? That's what confused me a bit. Well, I'll probably never know. > > > Have any of you experienced discrimination by someone because of your > > weight, when they were overweight themselves? Maybe even larger? Very > > strange! Guest guest
> I thought about this as well. People merely surround themselves with thinner/fitter/smaller people because thats what they want to look like and emulate. Look at any group of teenage girls hanging out at the local mall, and there is always a heavier girl trying to 'fitin' with the size 2's. There's that 'wannabe' psych in all of us. As for the guy mentioned, yes he probably just wanted to have her around so he could 'wannabe' her next boyfriend. joni
Guest guest
Everyone wants to surround themselves with people they admire, but when you're large and reject someone because they're large, it sounds like a self-esteem issue to me. I choose my friends based on how compatible we are, and what we have in common - not size. BTW, when we grow up and mature - we're supposed to be past " high school " ways of thinking. > > I thought about this as well. Guest guest
On a different note, I find that people in general treat you different based on your size. It's not always overt, sometimes it can be as subtle as just not noticing someone who is fat. Like they're invisible. Well, it depends on a lot of factors. What matters most is how we see ourselves.
