most of the time these days my cook book is google LOL

i have something i want to cook in mind

i google a few recipes and combine the elements that interest me

marion and i share a lot of recipes

(we've know each other for -- what marion? i hate to say it-- 30 years?)

she is much much better at collecting and sharing them than i am

she's very organized in that way

when i write a recipe down it's not easy to understand

or maybe my standards for a written recipe are too high because i

used to test recipes for a living at one point

....we graduated college in.... 1976, I think. So yes, Felcity and I have

known each other for about 30 years.

I use google (same way as Felicity does) and regular cookbooks. One

cookbook that I like is How to Cook Without a Book by Pam ; this

will teach techniques, so you can gain confidence; worked for me

anyway. It isn't based on BFL or low-calorie, but works anyway (with

adjustments)

Felicity's right; I'm pretty organized about my recipes. It's because my

mom died when I was very young, so I don't have a lot of info from

her. Some scraps of paper with recipes - some of which aren't even

titled. I have 2 daughters who enjoy food, and I want to be sure to have

our family favorites in a easy format for them. (I'm even more compulsive

about family calendar and photos and their schoolwork.....)

I tend to think that I've written the directions clearly, but periodically

my daughters do the cooking - and when they follow the recipe, it becomes

very clear that I didn't include enuf info! But that may just be their

inexperience in the kitchen.

The older I get, the more adventurous I am with improvising for

dinners. Basically, on any given day, I start with one ingredient that I

have in the house (perhaps it's a fresh vegetable that needs to be used up)

and then build the dinner around that (ie, yesterday we had some sprouts

left, and we were all having dinner at different times, so I prepared the

ingredients for an Asian salad in individual containers and broiled some

teriyaki salmon; as each person was ready to eat, they built their own salad)

Thats so great that you guys are long-time friends!

I'm getting deja-vu writing this right now, but if you guys have

some recipes you'd like to share,

have you thought about teaming up and posting them on a blog site?

Id really like to learn more about preparing food that

is a little more tasteful than EFL, easier to calculate, less

ingrediants etc...ALL WITH PICTURES OF COURSE! lol

Sorry n/! I keep calling it n's Muffin, cuz of the

double M.

You're ULTRA mom!

Scratch the blog, you need your own show on the FoodNetwork

making nutritious and fun food for the modern family.
