Guest guest
, Does mold or do mold spores emit mycotoxins?? If it is mold spores and mold spores are everywhere, how does one get away from mycotoxins? On reading Dr Croft's comments that mold spores are hard to get rid of in clothing, etc, well let me put here exactly what he has in letter to me, which I am sure is a form letter, except where he inserts my test results: " Conclusion of test: (my name) is being exposed to moderate levels of Trichothecene Myctotoxins (more about my test here), which is very poisonous to humans especially children. There is no safe level of TM. The central nervous system including the brain and spinal cord, and the lungs are primar target organs with inhalation Mycotoxicosis. The mycotoxin can affect every cell in the body, with the brain, lungs, immune system, gastrointestinal and reproductive organs being especially susceptible. The health effects are cumulative in their effects on the body and exposure should be avoided at all costs (your point ). It has been my experience that clothing is a good carrier to these mold spores (so now he refers to mold spores rather than mycotoxins)and mold contamination. Washing or the use of bleach solution is not effective in removing or neutralizing this mycotoxin, in fact stimulates mycotoxin generation. Replacement is the only way to remove exposure of myctoxins from clothing, including electronic equipment (so I will put off getting new computer) His recommendations: 1. Determine source of contamination in residence (source of moisture). 2. Remediation of residence and removal of all contaminated items, 3. Use Hepa air filtering units to remove any mold spores within air or residence. One will know if environment is clean if allergies arise in body 2- 12 weeks later (which I don't understand, but??) ### Okay so question is, do mycotoxins come from mold spores, not mold growth or mold colony? If so, then since mold spores are all over the place, then myctoxins are everywhere also. Then mold colonies or growths are dangerous *only* in that they emit LOTS of mold spores?? (Of course they can do property damage too) Is this the difference then, the amount of mold spores in environment? The more mold spores, the more mycotoxins? It seems that certainly everywhere we go we are picking up mold spores on our clothes and hair etc. I assume we can get them off our bodies, since we in effect shed by exfoliation our skin when we wash. Second part of question, even without a mold problem, wouldn't thing that are just 'old' be full of mold spores since over time they would accumulate if they are not cleaned effectively, even if never been in a moldy house?? For example any cloth furniture would over time I would think become toxin to some degree. Wouldn't that be true? Do you believe mycotoxins bound to things even though spore may be brushed or vacuumed away? I'm wondering how possible it is to be relatively mycotoxin free without running around naked and homeless!!!
