Guest guest
Thanks Felicity and n for your congrats on kicking that nasty habit. Don't worry, I have no intentions of going back down that road. Quitting has been really, really hard. And n, I would tend to agree with you that there is no way I put on 10 lbs of fat if I was eating 1400-1600 calories a day except that during this time frame I have been counting calories. Normally, I don't count calories, I just palm/fist it but I had heard the horror stories of people getting way fat when they quit smoking and I was determined that that wasn't going to happen to me. So I started counting calories the day I quit smoking so I could keep my calories under control. I think I did pretty good with snacking on the carrots but that only lasted the first 3 days, now I'm back to my 6 scheduled meals. I have noticed that I am less thirsty now, but I do get my 5 litres in a day and I have been craving hot and spicy food. I have been satisfying those cravings with hot seasonings and my homemade salsa. I watch my salt so I don't know what else to change to get this 10 lbs off. I too don't know a thing about what happens to your body or metabolism when you give up nicotine; perhaps I should google it. Anyway, thanks for your help and good wishes. It feels great to be a non-smoker! Blessings - Tina
