Guest guest
I certainly don't know enuf to know whether or not you measured accurately, but certainly BFL is right for you. But, not " bfl and hope for the best " . If you don't believe BFL will work for you, then you're setting yourself up for it not to work. Hoping won't get you where you want to go. As just wrote last week: If BFL isn't working well for someone, making minor adjustments or tightening it up in general usually does the trick. There have been plenty of truly jaw-dropping transformations done by the book. I've watched hundreds of people doing BFL. I can tell you that somebody who's 100% committed, totally motivated, and following the program to the letter will get more dramatic results than someone who's winging it, counting calories, throwing in more cardio, switching their weight days around, changing this and fixing that. And it's because the mega-adjuster, deep in their soul, already believes that the program won't work, or that it won't work for them. It's not the mechanics of what they're doing that determines the results, it's the attitude, it's the approach, it's the level of determination. I see that over and over again. Somebody can be doing the dumbest, rice-cake-eating, 3 pound pink dumbbell curling, lamest program and the world and get incredible results as long as they're living and breathing it. Somebody else can have a flawless plan custom-designed by an exercise physiologist and a sports nutritionist and get nothing if their heart isn't in it. Guest guest
No, I am a true believer. I already see a big difference since January in my eating habits and I think it's a great permanent change. I need to be more intense in my workouts, and I have already taken a positive step with my cardio (reintroducing jogging to actually make it HIIT) and this week I am determined to do a better/harder lower body workout. I guess I am just asking- should I go lower with calories or do something else to get my body fat percent lower? I realize it's more a number to track where I am going, but I am worried it is as high as it allegedly is. But, not " bfl and hope for the > best " . Guest guest
Sorry to reply to my own reply, but I guess what I am really saying is I am REALLY freaked out that my number is so high. That's really it. And I think the answer is it didn't get that high overnight, so it won't lower overnight either, but if I just stick with the plan and really work it, it will be lower by the end of 12 weeks. > > No, I am a true believer. Guest guest
First off, all the bf estimates are just that ESTIMATES! If you are really dying to know your bf, you'd have to do just that --- die and then have one of those CSI guys autopsy you. OK, a bit dramatic (gross maybe?), but you get the point, right? lol The key is to get a measure or 2 or three (I use a caliper, biofitness and tape measure), and track whether these things are going down. If they are, it is working. If they arent, then you need to tweak a bit. If things are working, DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING. It is working!!!! If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If your numbers aren't moving, then you could tweak a few things. Here is where you have to be honest with yourself. Are your free days a little too free? Are you eating too many bars and not real food? Has your fist gotten bigger? But only worry about these things if your numbers arent going down. I am the first person to fixate on numbers. I hate my scale. I have dreams of throwing it out the bathroom window, burning it outside, etc. etc. I'm working through this though. ;-) Stick to the plan. Believe in yourself. Look for positive changes. Ignore the actual number if you can. >>>>>at biofitness, it said my > body fat percentage was 33%. Is that possible? Guest guest
Here are a couple of other websites that do BF% estimates... http://www.linear-software.com/online.html http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/bfb For me, biofitness came back much lower than these other ones, but everyone's body is different so you might get a better estimate by averaging all of these. Do you have a very small frame? I have a very very large frame so biofitness gave me 26% BF. I'm 5'4 as well but I weigh 164. My belly button measurement is abour 33 " , my thigh is 23.75 " , and forearm 10.5 " ... How do your #s compare to that? body fat percent question >I tried to measure myself (alone) for the first time. Guest guest
: I am a small frame, but I have a lot of extra weight for it right now. My belly button area was 34, my thigh was 25, my upper arm was 11 and forearm 8.25 So, we're pretty close. > > Here are a couple of other websites that do BF% estimates... > > http://www.linear-software.com/online.html > http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/bfb > > For me, biofitness came back much lower than these other ones, but > everyone's body is different so you might get a better estimate by averaging > all of these. > > Do you have a very small frame? Guest guest
Ok so it sounds like you might carry your weight more on your lower body, so that might skew results... and also, being a smaller frame will make every single pound more noticable.. What did it say your lean mass was? Mine is 122 body fat percent question >> >> >> >I tried to measure myself (alone) for the first time. Guest guest
Hey girls, Thought I'd weigh in... Biofitness has me at 22% 5'4 1/2 166 weight waist 30.5 thigh 23.5 calf 14.75 I don't use this one b/c I know that most of my weight/fat is really in my upper thigh/hip area. Healthstatus has me at 32% US Navy 21% I find it really interesting that they are that different. I still use the highest one but hey I started at 45% fat - gack! And I have more to go. I think if I went with the 20 something %, I'd be happy to maintain. LOL I'm with everyone else on this subject. As long as you see a downward trend, that's the point. Guest guest
Snoopie, That number seems kind of high to me for your height, but it's hard to say. Just for comparison, mine came out to 23.7% when I was 142 lbs. I'm about 5'5.5 " , just a bit taller than you I think. Now at 140, my fat % has gone up to 24.9%. Maybe I was just bloated. Anyway, follow the program and watch your numbers go down!
