It's reasonable to expect to lose 1-2 pounds of fat per week. That's

12-24 pounds per 12 week challenge if you're really in high gear. So,

you're right on target with your fat loss. There's nothing to feel sad

about. You've already lost more scale weight in your first four weeks

than I lost in my entire first challenge. It sounds like you're having

your 4 week freak out right on schedule.

http://www.skwigg.com/id40.html

Your results are great, but your expectations can be your undoing.

Here's a good quote from Hussman's site:

From Dr. Hussman: " Here is your job today: adhere to a

winning pattern of action that you know will produce

results if you follow it consistently. That's all. And

if you do that today, congratulate yourself as a

winner. If instead, you insist on measuring your

success by whether or not the scale or caliper show

progress today, you're creating a game you can lose.

In Covey's words, you're putting yourself in

the position of trying to manage consequences rather

than actions. You'll never get a reliable sense of

confidence that way. Look, you're following a program

that works. Do troubleshoot. Do review your workouts,

food choices, portion sizes, and meal plans. But make

every day a game you can win. "

5 pounds in a month, and 5 " and 1.68% body fat - that's a fabulous transition!

You are getting a new you!

While it's great to set goals related to numbers, it's important to set

realistic goals (body-related and non-body-related) so you can feel success

and motivated.

What non-body goals have you set? How are they progressing?

What are your body-related goals?

Be sure to read the links sent; they're helpful and on target -

Thanks ....

I feel better about " life " today. I just had such big expectations

for my first 4 weeks. Thanks for the quote, that is for sure right

on.

This morning I got up, did my work out, put in extra effort despite

painful ankle from a sprain last week in a greasy slip in a

restaurant. I sweated good, ate a measured breakfast and promised

myself I wasn't going to give up.

Thanks again for your encouragement!!!!

Thanks n,

I am going to check everything out for sure today. I feel better

about life this morning. Going to reevaluate my eating, and work out

later today.

My Non body goals are:

- to learn to like myself more (it is coming along)

- to learn to encourage others by finding inner focus myself.( iam

liking doing that)

- to learn confidence ( slowly coming along)

My body related goals are:

- my daughters old white pants (want them to fit good and then be too

big). I can get them on and done up so long as I don't want to

breathe. :)

- to see my muscle that is buried beneath my fat

- to be a 8/9 instead of a 12/14 size

- to hopefully see most of my cellulite disappear or at least lessen.

My focus...

I come from a large family. My cousin has just hit around 385

pounds. He is scaring me big time. I want so badly to do well so

that I can help him to get started in taking care of himself.

That is me in a nut shell.

thanks so much for caring and the encouragement

Thats the right attitude! Take a deep breath and keep going! I always

tell people to put things in perspective when they want the changes

to happen rightnowimmediatelypoutpout - it took you longer than

4/6/8/12 weeks to put on this bodyfat/weight, its not going to melt

off in record time just because you are 'starting' to change. Change

takes consistant long term persistance - just aim for a goal and be

the best you can be - which may not be to 'fit into' your daughters

white pants -hehe you may want to buy a smaller size who knows? ;-)

diet, but that isnt really making a change for good*

Five pounds in four weeks (that's only 28 days by the way...that means

that you created a caloric deficit of 625 calories a day, on

average!), five inches lost, and 1.68% body fat gone!....You ARE

building a new you, so don't you dare downplay your results.

We Americans are all tied up in instant gratification, but life is

really about the journey to our goals. Enjoy the changes you are

making, revel in how much better you feel and how proud you are of

sticking to your plan. You are doing great.

Jackie -

These are wonderful, achievable, attainable goals. What are you doing each

week to work on your non-body related goals?

I'm convinced that the reason BFL (and BFFM) work is that they take a

3-prong approach to: Nutrition + Exercise + Mental

Hummm got me thinking. What am I doing to work on my non body

goals? Really, I don't know. I guess until you asked that question

I didnt realize how much I was depending on a changed body to

change " everything " . Hummmmm... back to the thinking...

Thanks for that question, it for sure has opened something up in me

this am.
