And while it’s known that taking too much can cause liver damage, this new research says even taking the recommended dose could be harmful. Medical Reporter Stahl reports. Tylenol The maximum dose of Tylenol, that’s eight pills a day, caused abnormal liver test results after two weeks, according to the new study. “It’s the first time that we have an indication that acetaminophen, if given to people on a regular and ongoing basis at a dose that’s recommended by the manufacturer, could potentially cause injury to the liver,” said Jefferson Liver Specialist Dr. Victor Navarro. Navarro says acetaminophen is generally safe for healthy adults, but this new research proves more studies are necessary. Cancer There’s new evidence showing hair dye may increase the risk of lymphoma. Researchers from Spain found a 19 percent increased risk of developing the cancer in people who color their hair. Those who dyed their hair 12 or more times a year had a 26 percent risk of developing lymphoma. The risk was greater for people who started dying their hair before 1980, after that date certain cancer-causing chemicals were removed from hair dyes. However, researchers say it’s still not clear whether newer dyes are risk free and say more studies are needed.
