Elvira [] Armada Township family to get Extreme Makeover Armada Township family to get Extreme Makeover August 7, 2006 By CHRISTY ARBOSCELLO http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article? AID=/20060807/NEWS99/60807009 FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER One knock can change seven lives. ABC-TVs Extreme Makeover: Home Edition surprised an Armada Township family this morning, telling them their 900-square-foot, mold-infested farmhouse will be transformed. The show visited ann Gilliam and her six children, ranging in ages from 8 months to 12 years old, at a relatives home in Mt. Clemens before whisking them away on a vacation. They are expected to return to a newly renovated home that should be unveiled next Monday. On Christmas Eve 2005, Gilliam, 41, died unexpectedly. A family doctor theorized dangerous levels of toxic spores may have been responsible for the firefighter and emergency medical technicians death. His wife and children had to vacate the home. American Heartland Homebuilder and Lombardo Homes both based in Macomb County will rebuild the home along with host Ty Pennington, the shows design team and about 3,000 workers, subcontractors and volunteers. Construction is scheduled to begin Wednesday. This is the shows second foray into Metro Detroit. In 2004, the show featured the drastic change of an Oak Park home.
