Guest guest
I quite enjoyed it, I think it got a lot more points in than the usual ones do but I did say whilst people that have dealt with autism on a personal basis would get it, that the general public would still think he could help those behaviours himself. I find there is a very thin line between ASD behaviours and an ASD kid being a little shit, especially since I have the bite mark on my arm from yesterday - a result of saying no to a Kit kat in the shops Good to have this sort of thing on boxing day prime time al the same Mandi x PS Hear the Silence gave us the diet and then we moaned that it didn't do more on biomed. I guess there is no pleasing us, real life is just to vivid for us ABE'ers, we live it, we breathe it
Guest guest
I did have a whistful moment at the end when they did the "if you have been touched by issues in this programme then contact NAS tel..." Imagine if they had said, 'or go to www.treating autism'- wow, looking forward to that in the future. >>LOL, me too - I was shouting back, yeah ring the NAS and they will give you NO BLOODY PRACTICAL HELP at all Mandi x
Guest guest
Yes you are right, the film did depict the stress of it all very well, especially the shoe shop incident, been there! Also Sam through a half eaten biscuit in M & S the other day and this women started shouting at Dave, he turned round with that "look" on his face and she started walking backwards (tee hee) then he gave her quite a long lecture on autism, wonder if she watched the film and cringed, hope so!You'll have to excuse me, I just seem to find christmas hard as much as I try not to!!How do other people here find it and cope? >>>We don;t really do Xmas in terms of fuss and family - the boys and were invited to SIL, me and Sam stayed at home, not willing to go there with their new chocolate fountain, Grandma did wrap up two packs of Percy Pigs, no not PP, Farmyard friends which he hates because saying ONLY THE PERCY PIGS, just doesn;t go in her seemingly empty head. Anyways she didn;t tell me so he ate all the pigs from those packs and sniffed the sheep The boys all opened their presents together, Joe wanted fish and chips for dinner and Tom wanted crispy duck, I just wanted summat the came from M & S for a treat I think it is harder for you with just having Sam, anyways its over now, voila! Back to the trampoline for that lad I say! Think wonderful conference thoughts It will be like christmas for us then, so many people to talk to that DON'T think we are mad Mandi x

Guest guest
Watched this last night and the usual despair re no mention of diet, biomed, education apart from that ghastly pompous ass of a headteacher! Interestingly Sam stayed firmly upstairs the whole time it was on! Must have heard the familiar shouts and maybe the word autism, who knows. Dave did take our taciterne jack russell Captain (who Sam does have a relationship with of sorts!) and put the dogs head round the door and said " go to sleep Sam " , Sam gave a knowing smile and went to sleep soon after! But in the words of ey it " said nothing to me about my life " !!! and I'm not rushing out to by a retriever anyway! Hope you all had a good and stress free christmas and wishing you all the very best of health, success and progress for your children in 2007 love Di x
Guest guest
I think it started off ok for the first 20 mins or so. Good in the way it highlighted the stress that builds up between parents, anger etc. Of course in the end it was all just a bit too easy and life isn’t like that, in our house anyway. Funnily enough I spent 30 mins locked in our cellar the other week courtesy of on. Instead of becoming hysterical I sat down on the stairs and read the back of all the tinned foods stored there!! Quite enjoyed the peace and quiet!! Of course I knew my husband was coming home soon to rescue me and that my 16 yr old wouldn’t hear my shouts above his electric guitar. Shame they didn’t mention diet, biomed etc, but we have to remember that we are the front runners in that department and it will take the Rest of the country a while to catch up!! Good that Autism is now main stream tv which can only help us in the future. Hope everyone is having a good crimble! Thank god we’ve got the conference to look forward to!!
