Guest guest
Natasa, I would have like to have read this one, went to the trouble of filling out their registration, then it went to a subscription screen and I never found the article....grrrrrrrrrr. Can you give a brief synopsis? I know Kathy from a-i recommends long term antibiotics, but not going there. I have hear Memantine mentioned a few times and Lithium, at least the supplement, has long been recommended to protect neuronal cells. Ours gets minute amounts of lithium in her multi, very good for mood. HIV neuronal injury, treatments that could be of benefit in autism It should be noted that HIV infected children often develop symptoms of autism... also worth noting that several of treatment agents mentioned (end of article) have been reported to be of benefit in subgroups with autism.HIV and antiretroviral therapy in the brain: neuronal injury and repair: http://www.nature.com/nrn/journal/v8/n1/full/nrn2040.html(free registration)this bit at the end I liked most: "... in this way HIV could serve as a model for other specific conditions that involve chronic synaptodendritic injury, such as other infectious or inflammatory diseases including systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis and neurological Lyme disease and HCV infection ..."wonder if anyone here has tried any of the following: Minocycline, Memantine (Namenda), lithium? or any of the other things they mention?Natasa

Guest guest
Thanks, Natasa, interesting about the dual reporting of "pruning" that I have heard about in ASD and also reported in this article concerning the neurocognitive problems with HIV, and that's just the first page!
