Fairview Post — Ten hospital residents that had to be moved to

Fairview from the Berwyn/Grimshaw Health Complex after mold was

discovered will be here at least a few more months.

It's a situation that has both families and hospital staff commuting

back and forth.

" It has challenged our staffing a bit, " says Tim Guest, chief

operating officer for regional sites of Peace Country Health (PCH).

" Anytime you have staffing shortages it creates a strain. "

The patients were moved after mold was discovered in the walls of an

unoccupied area of the hospital during renovations.

Peace Country Health is trying to make the situation as easy as

possible by providing a daily shuttle for hospital workers and

family members from the Grimshaw area.

" There is an added cost to us right there, " admits Guest.

" The staff are inconvenienced for sure. It's added time to

everyone's day. "

The impact will continue as the continuing care patients will not be

moved home until renovations are complete.

" We are looking at a completion date in November but we anticipate

now that the residents aren't there the next phase will go more

quickly, " says Guest. " Hopefully everything will get back to normal

soon. "
