Guest guest
Dear , Not sure whether you know my son had Infantile Spasms as a baby which didn't stop when given huge doses of steroids and Vigabatrin but which responded totally to 100mg daily of Vitamin B6 (which was prescribed to my son on the National Health by his consultant paediatric neurologist). If you can't get it on prescription than I recommend you buy pyridoxine hydrochloride BP 100mg tablets (a pack of 28 costs about £1). BP means British Pharmaceutical standard and the Vitamin level will be what it says (within the allowable tolerance level of about 5%). If you buy health food shop etc B6 there is no way of knowing how much B6 the tablets contain - I know someone in Canada whose hospital tested several commercial brands and found they often contained very much less than the stated amount. Some children with pyridoxine dependency (a rare inborn error of metabolism) need P5P as they can't convert the pyridoxine = another thing to consider.
