Guest guest
Do not, I repeat, do not start over! You will always have bad weeks, emotional turmoil, deadlines, injuries, natural disasters, out of town guests. The most important thing is to carry on in spite of any slip-ups. If you start over every time you have a less than perfect week, you'll never finish a challenge or achieve your goals. Every time you quit and re-start, the message you're sending yourself is: I can't do anything right. I can't be trusted. I don't keep my promises. I can't follow through. I'm not good enough. It's too hard. Nothing ever works for me. And that's a great big bunch of negative nonsense to be telling yourself. I don't care how many workouts you miss, or how many meals you mess up, or how many times you sleep late or cheat. If you FINISH, you're a winner and you can be really, really proud of yourself. You're teaching yourself that you can do anything and overcome anything; and that sets you up for long term success. If you quit and start over every time it gets bumpy, you're teaching yourself that you're a quitter and a failure. Guest guest
Trisha, is right, don't start over. If you miss a workout, you miss a workout. Just continue on. Look at your obstacles as opportunities to learn how to do what you need to do in spite of life's ups and downs. And definitely, you have to have your priorities straight, taking care of your daughter and your own medical needs (and sounds like you do). Things will happen and interfere, but if you keep going you will see progress. When I started my first challenge, I didn't have everything set up, I kind of jumped in where I was. It was kind of rocky at the start, but things gradually fell more into place. I was happy w/my results too, despite missing some work outs and taking a few extra free days over the holidays. Don't give up! Guest guest
The thing that I keep seeing is even with a bad day, a missed workout, a few too many calories -- you can still have a successful day, week, challenge if you just get back on track. felicity
Guest guest
Hey, last week, at my bridal shower, I had a piece of cake the size of my head, an omelet, fried potatoes, oh and some fruit to feel healthy. Guess what? The next day, I lost 3 pounds all of a sudden when I had been at a standstill! Don't worry about a few slipups. this is FOR LIFE, not just 12 weeks. Noone can go their lifetime being perfect. They wouldn't be much fun anyway!Going to a baseball game tonight, which scares me. I hope I can bring in food and not be tempted by nachos, hot pretzels and peanuts... Guest guest
Thats right! I am 10 workouts for 14 days! Is this HUGE progress??? Heck yeah, I was 0 for 14 the two weeks before! Keep the faith! > > The thing that I keep seeing is even with a bad day, a missed > workout, a few too many calories -- you can still have a successful > day, week, challenge if you just get back on track. > felicity >
Guest guest
Stop counting the workouts you missed. Think about how great it is that you have already done x number of workouts. Focus on the positive. A few weeks ago, I stopped working out for 2 weeks? and stopped eating as clean as I should have b.c I was dealing with my mom being really sick and in the hospital. I picked up where I left off once the danger was over. Yes, I won't get as good of results, but ya know? One of my bigest goals is to make this a way of life. To eat well and exercise regularly. And even tho I was not eating as clean as I should, I was still doing better than I used to eat. If you are looking to find a healthy way of life, then there are no start overs. Just pick up where you're at. Keep trying. Some days will be great, some will stink. It's life. But as long as you are trying, you will succeed! > > well i started the challenge april 2nd and soo far ive missed 4 > workouts, 2 this week, like yesterday i had to rush my daugher to the > e.r she cut her lip, and that did me in for the night, and the day > before i had to go get a biopsy done, and that did me in for the day, > im just afraid im not going to get the results im hoping for out of > this challenge, and will get discouraged and not want to do it anymore, > i think i might have to restart, but i really want to do it, im in the > right mindset now, im totally pumped for it, but with trying to find > the time to fit in workouts, and not having proper equiptment, im > really afaid ill fail, some help please anyone............ >

Guest guest
As everyone else has posted, just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep on trudging. There will ALWAYS be interruptions from life. If/when you read the posts from finalists at the official challenges over the years, you'll see that many of them (most?) had days/weeks during their 12 weeks that weren't perfect. It's impossible to have everything be just right for 12 weeks, and it certainly won't be that way beyond the 12 weeks. The greater success is from learning to make this an ongoing part of your life. If you miss day, here or there - it's irrelevant. What matters is to be able to pick it back up and continue. My 2 cents n At 04:39 PM 4/13/2006, you wrote: >yes i entered the official challenge, > >n wrote: Trisha - >Are you entered in the official challenge? >or are you trying to adjust to this way of exercising and eating, as a new >way of living? >n > >At 06:25 AM 4/13/2006, you wrote: > >well i started the challenge april 2nd and soo far ive missed 4 > >workouts, 2 this week, like yesterday i had to rush my daugher to the > >e.r she cut her lip, and that did me in for the night, and the day > >before i had to go get a biopsy done, and that did me in for the day, > >im just afraid im not going to get the results im hoping for out of > >this challenge, and will get discouraged and not want to do it anymore, > >i think i might have to restart, but i really want to do it, im in the > >right mindset now, im totally pumped for it, but with trying to find > >the time to fit in workouts, and not having proper equiptment, im > >really afaid ill fail, some help please anyone............ Guest guest
Then keep in mind that your written essay is a big part of it. You can honestly say that it was hard, that there were obstacles, that you missed workouts, that you were full of doubts at first, but that you kept going and learned and conquered and had a fabulous transformation anyway. The judges will eat that up. :-) > yes i entered the official challenge,
Guest guest
Remember, you're aiming for progress NOT perfection! A trip to the ER with your kid would be enough to do most people in for the day. Hang in there! Sounds like you are doing just fine! > > well i started the challenge april 2nd and soo far ive missed 4 > workouts, 2 this week, like yesterday i had to rush my daugher to the > e.r she cut her lip, and that did me in for the night, and the day > before i had to go get a biopsy done, and that did me in for the day, > im just afraid im not going to get the results im hoping for out of > this challenge, and will get discouraged and not want to do it anymore, > i think i might have to restart, but i really want to do it, im in the > right mindset now, im totally pumped for it, but with trying to find > the time to fit in workouts, and not having proper equiptment, im > really afaid ill fail, some help please anyone............ >
Guest guest
Hey Trish, everyone else really gave you that keep 'er going answer. I just wanted to suggest maybe that you need to rework your workout routine? I found that it worked much better if I took Weds off of my workout - the week days are much more hectic than the weekends for me. I could it leisurely on the weekends. Here is my split: Tues/Thurs/Sat: cardio. Mon/Fri/Sun: weights. And I change it around, depending on the week. I sit down on Friday and look at the week ahead and move things around if I know I have doc appts, parties, etc. I plan for my free meals that way too. Take care! Keep trudging along! You will see great results!
