Guest guest
Peta, Have you tried the lemon juice with the Oxypowder yet? This gets ds having a good clearout on only 2 caps!!! If he drinks orange juice this is a good place to hide the lemon juice, just add about a tablespoon, makes it a nice tangy OJ without being too sharp. Nikki ps How convinced are you that he is impacted/backed up? > > Hi is there a max dose that should be given? Guest guest
Hi Nikki yes I am squeezing lemon juice into his drink- probably not as much as a tbls but he doesn't like it. i don't know if he is impacted but he was going every 3 days which is not enough and he eats a fair quantity of food. My husband tried oxypowder and it worked a treat - he did 6 a night and had 3-4 bm's. And he is 6'5 " but of course hasn't got bowel problems. We don't really know if our kids are impacted unless they have regular x-rays do we - it's all guess work! Do you have to wait until you get 3-5 bm's for 7 days or is one a day good enough? By the way there hasn't been a report by an autism expert that has found out that tall men who wear uniforms are more likely to have autistic kids has there?! Can't remember the name of the one who came up with the idea that air travel had increased the incidence of autism - Simon Cohen or am I thinking of the comedian Baren-Cohen? Or am I just talking rubbish! Thanks for your help Peta - - In Autism Treatment , " nm44714 " <nikkigoian44714@...> wrote: > > Peta, > > Have you tried the lemon juice with the Oxypowder yet? Guest guest
Peta, i'm not sure what to suggest, once every 3 days is not really enough, it would mean sluggish bowel to me. We get a build up to a massive explosion here on oxypowder, toilet blocking amounts (luckily he is still in pull-ups!!!!!!!!!!). I suspect ds has a mega-rectum (self diagnosed by moi). I have a referral for an x-ray sitting here waiting for us to do it, just dreading it, last time we tried Greg refused to get up on the table and run out screaming, ho-humm, isn't life fun ;+( sorry i can't help more. Nikki ps arent the BC Brothers a comedy duo, like Laurel and Hardy??? pps SBC got more theories than i've had hot dinners!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ppps Whats that old saying: 'Jack of all trades, master of none,' SBC are you listening???? > > Hi Nikki > yes I am squeezing lemon juice into his drink- probably not as much > as a tbls but he doesn't like it. i don't know if he is impacted but > he was going every 3 days which is not enough and he eats a fair > quantity of food. Guest guest
Hi Peta My Joe is very like your son with oxypowder. We are currently on 7 per day with lemon juice with movicol and he is still just getting the once every three day explosion. He had an xray last month which showed significant impaction all the way through the colon, Dr H estimates this to be 10-20lb of poo so something needs to shift pardon the pun! I dont have any answers but it is good to know we are not alone.
Guest guest
Thanks Does dr H say it is ok to take 7 oxypowder daily indefinitely? Guest guest
It's important to give at night and away from supps if at all possible. you want it working in the bowel as much as possible. If you try it yourself you can literally feel it fizzing about like a little bubbling action. I have never been so aware of the shape of my plumbing! In terms of impaction - it's very hard to be totally sure but my son was having a normal looking bm every day and was totally impacted. It was the end of the queue appearing. He also had a totally flat tummy (great tone!!) and only outward sign was rattiness, aggression and panda eyes. We had NO IDEA. It was scary. But you need to be careful, I presume, not to rush good stuff through. I don't know how you tell, I just know that we were gob smacked when Tom was impacted. We'd only had the x-ray to eliminate bowel problems from our enquiries, we got that one wrong! His language has come back after treating the impaction. He's not verbal the way he was before regression but he has a vocabulary of nouns and demands that mean he can tell us in broad terms what he wants. That's a pretty massive step for him. Guest guest
Hi Steph We had an x-ray in the summer and it showed that he wasn't impacted but the gastro thought that he had been at one stage and said " whatever we are doing it is working. " Funnily enough we thought that he was going to be impacted. I watched some Krigson videos a while ago and I still don't know if scoping Charlie would do any good even if we could afford it. Until we get rid of all the metals I don't think we are going to resolve the problem and are we then even? I wish there wasn't still so much guess work! Glad to hear that Tom is feeling better - what our poor kids have to go through!
