Guest guest
may just be a miracle! I just finished doing the " back on the ball " chapter and what a difference! Just some random thoughts - In the first exercise you are supposed to lay flat on your back and then bend your knees and then straighten your legs, bend them again, etc. to get a feel of where your hip bones are. Well, when I first started laying flat on my back I could tell that my left side/hip was definately out of whack and didn't lay flat on the floor - it felt that it was lifted off and there was a tightness in the inner part of my hip. After finishing most of the exercises in the " Back on the Ball " chapter I could feel a huge difference when I laid flat on my back - my left hip/side felt like it was even with my right side and fairly flat on the floor! YAY! Most of the exercises are typical stretches that you would normally see but you do them with the ball strategically placed on your body - for the back exercises the ball is placed under your pelvis and you are to relax into the ball. You hold the stretches for 1-2 minutes and the whole purpose is to just relax into the balls. I think for the back chapter there are 7 exercises, I did most of them. I may do some fo them again later. Some of the exercises in the hip chapter also look like they would be beneficial. Eventually,I'll probably try everything in the book but I'll most likely be concentrating on the hips/back chapters to get that area straightened out first. There is also a chapter on breathing and it is amazing how shallow my breathing is. The book explains it pretty well and I had one of the " unusual " reactions of getting light-headed from doing the breathing exercises. According to the book that is because I don't take deep breaths and I'm basically not used to all the oxygen. All in all, so far this was a good idea for me!! (Thanks, Carolyn for mentioning it!) I also think it is something I can do - it is not as demanding as yoga or Pilates (physically or mentally) so this looks like something I can stick with for an evening routine. Take care everyone!
