Guest guest
Hey everyone... I am a really bad bored eater. If i am home, I am constantly wanting something in my mouth, or something to " munch " on... I've always been a muncher, basically. It isn't just around my period that I get the munchies... it's everyday. I need to KICK this " sweet/munchie " tooth. Anyone have any tips on how I can start kicking this? I am going to try and not have any sweets on my " free " day because that just starts a downfall for the week... but I can just about justify any thing I eat, lol. Like if I eat ONE hershey kiss, I say " it's just my one sweet for the day " ... I just need some advice as to how I can kick this munchie/sweet tooth. Any tips!?!? Thanks gals! Guest guest
Check out BFL for Cheaters and Binge Eaters. It might give you some ideas. http://www.skwigg.com/id76.html If you're an emotional eater, the " I'll never eat sweets again " thing usually goes horribly wrong. Most of the time it sets you up for more bingeing and another failure. Plan your chocolate intake just like you plan your workout. Stick to the plan and you'll start feeling more confident and in control. Once you're feeling stronger and seeing some results, then it will be much easier to back off on the sweets and really go for it. It's mainly a mental thing. If you plan to eat sweets six times a day, it takes all the fun out of it. After just a couple of days, you're usually sick of sugar, eager for faster results, and really looking forward to eating some chicken and grapes. Guest guest
, my trick is to fill up on liquids --- water, herb tea, green tea, coffee with a splash of milk. That way I'm using my hands, 'feeding' my craving and filling up my stomach. >>>>>> Hey everyone... I am a really bad bored eater. Guest guest
Hi , I agree with 's response. I would also add this list of options; -take a walk (even indoors marching in front of a good movie) and think about your priorities -brush your teeth and gargle -chew 1/2 stick of gum -have a SMALL balanced meal -don't buy the whole bag -have a cup of green tea -have your favorite herb tea -learn relaxation breathing -pray -make yourself smile really big -make yourself laugh out loud for 1-5 minutes (both the smile and the laugh release endorphines BIG time) -if the great movie and walking combination aren't working...add the portable phone and call a positive friend to chat -get online and read the archived messages of this group for support -have 2 BIG glasses of water -tell yourself you can cave in and have the " treat " in 5 minutes after you do some of the above " tricks " (That feels kind and rational...the craving will usually pass by then) -read the book, " Seven Weeks to Sobriety " which has alot to say about how our minds and chemistry work regarding alchohol, smoking, and yes...even those sweets we sometimes crave Of course, be walking on the treadmill or walking in place as you are reading the information -get back issues of Prevention Magazine, Fitness Magazine, Muscle Magazine, etc. and read them during or before your usual craving time -stop off at the store of your choice (not grocery ) and try on cute colorful things in your new size. Buy something you can afford. Bottom line is to find something pleasant, fun, and/or soothing to do in that time period that doesn't involve your tempting foods. Good Luck. Cravings are a familiar challenge for us all. It does get a bit easier with practice. We can do this!!! M. > > > > > Hey everyone... I am a really bad bored eater.
