What if you sat down and did up a weekly menue that has you eating the

same thing each day of the week..one menue for Mon, one for Tue, etc?

That way you have a set menu you do not want to deviate from, but

there is more variety in your food choices and caloric intake?

That's a good idea. I plan out my week w/ different meals, but then I always end

up eating the same thing out of convenience and partly out of fear of doing

something different. I am a creature of habit

Tara,

I used to be " afraid " to try new things as well... I would always make things

because I knew I would like them and be satisfied. I am pushing myself to

follow my menu I make each week though. I sometimes deviate because I am not

hungry when I am supposed to make a snack, but I try and stick as best to it as

I can. You just have to venture out there and try a few new things in order to

know that they are good, and then you will have multiple things to try. I just

tried the Vanilla Nut Cereal this morning from the EFL book, and boy was it

tasty... but I alllllmost made Chocolate Oatmeal, ha ha but forced myself.

It's hard, but try and stick to a routine and a meal schedule... it will help

you get used to trying new things!

I used to be " afraid " to try new things as well... I would always make things

because I knew I would like them and be satisfied. I am pushing myself to

follow my menu I make each week though. I sometimes deviate because I am not

Thanks. It's not that I don't like things. I like tons of things, but it's just

hard b/c I have to prepare almost all of my meals the night before and it's so

easy to just do ones that are easy and I'm used to making. Oh well..I'll figure

it out. Going to really stick to a menu next week. I'm going broke buying egg

beaters and cottage cheese!

I totally agree with .

I also think there is no rush...

Tara, just plant the seed of the idea of trying one new food per month.

You'll be making steps to diversity and a food plan you can live with

for life.

Maybe today is the day, but if it isn't, remember, there's no need to

push yourself into changes if you aren't feeling ready for them...When

you are feeling ready, you know you have the support you need with

this group :)

Then again; I love that phrase, " Smile, and fake it 'til you make it " .

That supports the idea of doing the positive thing and eventually

feeling more comfortable with the new habit :)

Thanks for elaborating on your point of view, Tara.

Looking at it from the perspective of quick and low cost...

Many of the BLF folks, myself included, find it helpful to cook in

larger quantities, then store the food in containers in the 'frig.

Some even prepare smaller containers of their " to go " meals, so they

are ready to grab.

As to the price of egg beaters...I buy whole eggs and toss most of the

yolks along with the shells. (I am concerned about the cholesterol) I

probably only eat one yolk a week as I have flax as my main healthy

oil. I do buy dozens of eggs each week. I hard boil many of them and

keep them handy for part of a quick or portable meal.

Have you seen Bill 's movie, Body of Work?

Meredith Brown used over a thousand boiled eggs during her

award-winning transformation.

I also use my freezer for

-an extra pre-cooked turkey breast,

-pre-formed lean ground meat patties (thin),

-a low/no fat precooked casserole (chicken enchilladas or eggplant

parmesan (makes inviting company over SOOOO

much easier)

- " Go-gurt " for the kids (I freeze them. They enjoy them.)

-bags of frozen spinach

-bags of frozen fruit

-WW pita bread

-corn tortillas (I use them like bread and like WW tortillas)

The list goes on, but that may be enough ideas to get you started.

Think of the food you and your family enjoys, then think of a fat-free

or low-fat way to keep those foods handy.

I don't let JUNK into my house, but I will buy a single serving bag of

chips, one York mint patty, or one scoop of icecream for a treat for

myself or a child when we are OUT of the house.

Just an idea that works for me. Everyone lives with their own unique

set of life circumstances.

This group is especially helpful to me as we continue to share

the tips that are working for themselves and their families.

money we are saving by NOT buying the JUNK we used to :)

Tara, no need to freak out! I wouldnt say that eating the same thing

everyday is necessarily 'bad' if the food is 'good'. lol

recently put up a post about how the most successful transformations

are usually accomplished by people who eat the same boring food

everyday. She made reference to a rat study, how the rats given

variety in thier food were fatter than those who ate the same boring

rat chow each day.

So, unless you are really tired of eating what you are eating, then I

wouldnt worry about it. You could be limiting your progress if there

isnt a bit of a zig or zag. It should be easy to accomplish by

throwing in an extra carb/nuts with a few meals every few days. Or

add in an extra 7th meal every few days. That will give you the zig

zag you are looking for.

As to the training, that's a different story. Make sure you change

your weights often enough, challenge yourself. Try to have variety in

your cardio to scare the fat off and avoid injury. But these are

things you already know! And based on your tracker pictures, you are

doing the right things when you train --- check out those arms and

abs!!
