Just my add in re xylitol, there are strong indications that polyol

sweeteners, especially xylitol, will greatly enhance calcium absorbtion

and OXALATE formation in suceptible individuals... in cases where

oxalate issues are suspected, I would be wary of using these types of

sweeteners.

Natasa,

have to agree with you on this one, this is exactly what happened to

my ds. I was giving him xylitol, only in smallish amounts in his

drinks to combat tooth decay as he hates having his teeth brushed.

When we added in high doses of Vit C to this for constipation issues

it really tipped him over the edge re oxalate problems. We had to

stop

both and i have been unable to add back in the xylitol, would love

too

but don't want to get back the urinary pain that ds had, he seems to

be far more sensitive to oxalates now, ho-humm :+( or perhaps always

was but i didn't know what it was until recently.
