Guest guest
She must be closely related to Bob from the " Merry Christmas, Bob " article. http://www.skwigg.com/id13.html People like that genuinely motivate me. The more they sit and eat Cheetos and whine about how they don't have time to exercise, the more motivated I become to totally kick ass. So, I can't be too upset when I cross paths with one of them. :-) On 4/11/06, <allan_mary@...> wrote: > I should have known, from past experiences, not to discuss weight-loss > and fitness issues with certain people. Guest guest
I get this all the time, so I quit telling people and downplay what I'm doing. I find it just isn't worth it. I have so many women tell me I better stop all the weight training because I'll be too bulky. And that I must eat too much because I get caught at my desk having one of my mini meals. I've given up, in many cases, trying to explain to people (women in particular) that fat loss is more important than scale weight loss if you want to look good in a bikini. It is really hard to convince women that hours of cardio in a fat burning zone isnt the answer. And that rice crackers and no fat high glycemic foods actually make you fat! >>>>>>> I should have known, from past experiences, not to discuss weight-loss > and fitness issues with certain people. Guest guest
She even made me mad and I don't even know her LOL! First off I never ate bars and you can completely do BFL without ever taking a supplement or eat bars/shakes. And in my opinion you have to cook to be healthy no matter what your " diet " consists of. Keep going she will be eating her words I guarantee you! Guest guest
Thanks for all of the replies. Maybe I'll treat her to a dozen Krispy Kremes...my treat! :-) I do not use bars either. Only as an emergency snack, then I only eat 1/2. I do love my smoothies because they just make things easier. Lots of goodies packed into 1 glass. Sometimes it feels like nobody cooks dinner any more. I spent 8 years working as a chef, so I know how to cook and I love it. Now it's like learning cooking all over again, using simple, clean and healthy ingredients. I also like teaching my daughters how to cook healthy and actually very easy dinners. Keep up the good work everyone. > > She even made me mad and I don't even know her LOL! Guest guest
" She could use BFL a lot more than me anyway! " HA HA HA HA My friend who is 5'2, about 190, thinks that she can't lift weights because she will just bulk up. She also thinks her body fat is 7%... I don't mean to be rude but... Um... has anyone actually ever heard of that? I can see on her places that she needs to lose weight (hey I need to too so I'm not being a b!tch), and I have a hard time thinking she's only 7% fat... more like 35% at least... She had it done with calipers at her gym... She's had a tummy tuck and lipo so I wonder if that messes with what the reading is, even tho they did take it from her neck and arms too which haven't been messed with... Point is, I am kind of getting tired of just smiling and nodding when she thinks she doesn't have really any fat to lose, that lifting weights will just bulk her up, and that she's 7% body fat... She works out for like 2-3 hours everyday, mostly cardio and some abs, and... It's not changing much, and I love her to death and I know she wants to be smaller and fitter, and I just don't know what to say anymore other than keep smiling and nodding... Any advice? Anyone have this response from people? >I should have known, from past experiences, not to discuss weight-loss > and fitness issues with certain people. Guest guest
Hi everyone! These posts couldn't have come at a better time. I am currently dealing with a lot of this at my work right now. My coworkers are always talking about how they hate the way they look, that they are sooo out of shape. At first, I tried to let them know about the body for life and what I do, but they don't want any part of listening to me. They make comments like, " you're already thin, you don't need to do anything " and " I can't get up early to work out " , and " I have kids, I don't have time to do all that " , etc, etc. All the while they continue to try every fad diet and new diet pill or herb that comes on the market without success. It's so frustrating. Now, I just stay out of the conversation. Also, there is a lady in my office who has recently lost a bunch of weight by not eating anything after 6pm and eating what she would for dinner at breakfast and my coworkers are all over her for tips/tricks to help them!!!!! I just think it's because with body for life, you actually have to work for it. Lori In , " " wrote: > > Thanks for all of the replies. Guest guest
Spring is here... You can both go shopping for swimsuits, shorts, and tank-tops together some evening. Summer is coming... Invite her for a swim, bike ride, or sunbathing. She'll seek advice when she's ready. People have to get to that starting point on their own. Human nature? But,those 3 way mirrors and size tags are pretty hard to ignore. You're lucky. I wish I had a close friend of any size who wanted to work out or be active with me M. Guest guest
Yeah that's what concerns me, because when she had her tummy tuck she was well over 200# and she said, 'I bought I size 6 jeans because that's what I'll be when I'm done with surgery'.. I just stared blankly at her... It scares me because I don't want her to get dicouraged and give up, and I also just can't see how she can't see herself... It's one thing to see yourself a little smaller or bigger than you really are, but it's another for her to see someone who would be considered almost abnormally thin when she is actually very overweight Re: Anyone have this response from people? > , your friend sounds frightenly unaware, or in denial. Guest guest
I showed those to a friend... She works as a Tech Writer, and some of the graphics guys there looked at the book and they assured her they pics were faked. <shrug> Who cares, if we are happy doing what we are doing? Guest guest
LoL, Not that much... and the tummy tuck wasn't that dramatic... yeah I really believe smiling and nodding is the way to go... I just wanted to know if anyone had ever heard of someone with that low of body fat %... and still being that big... Anyone have this response > from people? >> >> >> >I should have known, from past experiences, not to discuss weight- > loss >> > and fitness issues with certain people.
