Guest guest
Hi All I weigh myself every day and put it into an excel spreadsheet and make little graphs out of it. It's a really good way for me to track my weight... But the most important thing is that it calms me down when I pick a day out of the week to weigh and track as my weekly weight and it's not a number I like. For example, last week I was 164.6... Today, for some reason, my weight is 164.9. But I know that for most of the week I was around 163/162. So it doesn't bother me. If I only weighed myself once a week I would be hysterical now because, OMG I'VE GAINED! But since I know I can bounce around 2 pounds everyday, I'm indifferent to it. Just wanted to put that out there for everyone else who weighs everyday and doesn't consider herself to be obsessive
Guest guest
I weigh myself just about everyday. I don't log it into my recordbook everyday; just periodically. But here's my big point: if I weigh myself everyday, I can't let the inevitable fluctuations freak me out or affect my mood; I have to be realistic about it, and be able to see the 'big-picture' of progress n At 02:17 PM 4/9/2006, you wrote: >i agree -- that idea " scales are unreliable so only weigh yourself >once a week idea " never made sense to me >if you can wait two weeks or a month , fine only do it once in a while >or give it up altogether \
Guest guest
Ok, I will fess up to weighing myself 4 days a week. I don't weigh myself on either of my weekend days or the first day after free day, but every other morning the curiosity is killing me... even though my weight hasn't varied by more than 5 pounds in the last three years. Don't ask me what it is I'm looking for when I jump on the scale all wide-eyed in the morning, but I suppose from a maintenance perspective it makes sense. There's no way my weight could gradually creep up unnoticed. > Hi All > I weigh myself every day and put it into an excel spreadsheet and make > little graphs out of it. Guest guest
I confess too! It's gotten better though. I used to weigh myself every day and OBSESS over tenths of pounds. It was crazy. Now I use it to see general trends and to make sure pounds don't sneak up on me. I also like to see how changes in my diet and exercise affect my weight. I don't, however, pay attention to the body fat on my scale. It's way off. Skwigg wrote: Ok, I will fess up to weighing myself 4 days a week. Guest guest
The only time I obsess over " scale " weight is when it is going to be recorded. If I go to the doctor, and I know that they are going to write down my weight making it permanently in ink! God forbid...I don't eat right before bedtime, and I basically lower my carbs that day, and I make sure I am wearing light clothing. Here's a good tip.. ladies drop the purse before you get on the scale!..I have seen some who don't! *smile* Pamela Skwigg wrote: Ok, I will fess up to weighing myself 4 days a week. Guest guest
i won't allow my doctor to weigh me. i only trust one scale and i do it the same time every day. i just tell him the # while looking at him sternly. :-) Pamela wrote: The only time I obsess over " scale " weight is when it is going to be recorded. Guest guest
This is sort of funny! I weigh myself the day after free day. I do this purely for the shock factor and to prove to myself that the " good " part of the plan works and that I should get right back to it. However, this week, the morning after free meal I actually weighed LESS! Stupid scale! ;o) > > Hi All > > I weigh myself every day and put it into an excel spreadsheet and make > > little graphs out of it. It's a really good way for me to track my > > weight... Guest guest
I will confess to weighing myself every day. AND putting everything including fat and bmi into an Excel spread sheet. Should I join Scale Users Anonymous. I don¹t however, let it dictate my mood or how my day will go beyond rededicating myself to what I really want every morning around 4:21. I had my free day yesterday and managed to add three pounds of Godknowswhat in one day. I couldn¹t help myself yesterday. How do you turn down a tri tip sandwich with a Chipotle aioli? I, for one, cannot. But today I¹m back on the horse, went to the gym and did my cardio, ate clean all day and will for the next six days. > This is sort of funny! Guest guest
I weigh myself everyday too and write it on the calendar. Things I can tell you from doing this is that I can weigh 3 - 4 pounds heavier if I ate chinese the night before. I also can gain up to 5 pounds before my period. Seeing the numbers spike up doesn't bother me because I expect it that is the nice thing about weighing yourself everyday. You do begin to realize that the number really doesn't mean much but I do think it helps me not lose sight of my goal however. Michele T. Guest guest
i tend to do it every four days but if i could hold off for 2 weeks at a time i would > > so.........I'm just curious > > is this a consensus? > do people like weighing daily > some of you hate weighing -- daily or otherwise > and find it safer to do it weekly or less often? > felicity >
Guest guest
I weigh daily, but it doesn't affect my psych at all. I find that if I don't weigh for a few days, everything is just fine. I just like to know. I also check my investments every morning, so maybe it's just me. Guest guest
I do. I¹ve done it most days for the last three years. There¹s a part of me that¹s a nerdy numbers girl and I find it keeps me honest, and the fluctuations don¹t mess with my mental health If there¹s a trend I know I have to change something. I record it every week or two along with my measurements. Guest guest
Sounds delish But to answer your question... Sometimes, I eat half and save the rest for the next meal. Have cooler...will travel. Guest guest
How about hourly? I have a problem. If there is a scale I MUST get on it. I try to tell myself I'll only weigh in the AM before work out, but I'm weak....and don't ask me about the tape measure...did you know there can be a quarter inch difference from PM to AM?! But, to answer your question, for the official weighing, yeah, I think I like to weigh every day. As someone else said, if I weigh weekly and that day happens to be a high number, my week is ruined. Guest guest
I must admit I am a daily weigher! (hanging head in shame) But really, I think it help keeps me going and motivated. I just dont beat myself up with fluctuations. I know after free day,Ill be up. I know preperiod, Ill be up. I only log my free day weight. I weigh myself every day after my workout, before my shower. But I dont think this tactic is for everyone!
