Guest guest
Alyssa, Just make sure you add some protein to your oatmeal w/pb (pb is a healthy fat, not a protein in BFL)--maybe a shake or egg on the side. Guest guest
I'm unclear whether you're looking for ideas on healthy carbs, or healthy snacks.... You can mix and match anything from these lists. There are many healthy carbs to choose from, and are good whole options (for alternatives to bread & pasta, which are both processed products; your body works harder to digest the whole items below, than the bread/pasta) - fruit - barley (great as a salad mixed with a lite dressing and minced vegs, or warm & seasoned) - parsley tabouli (made from lots and lots and lots of flat leaf parsely, with bulgur, minced vegs and a lite dressing) - corn on the cob (I consider this primarily a starch, not a veg) - polenta (made from coarse cornmeal; I love it minced and sauteed, with eggs and salsa) - brown rice - Kashi (very small portion, usually) - winter squash (I sometimes use this as a carb; I love it with cottage cheese and cinnamon) Also - - whole-grainy crackers (Kashi, Triscuit, etc) PROTEINS - cottage cheese mixed with tuna - cottage cheese mixed with minced vegs (if you add roasted peppers, it's pretty) - 'devilled' eggs - there are lots of alternative fillings for the insides - small piece of chicken, with great quality whole-seed mustard, and finger pieces of vegs, and a piece of fruit - tuna with parsley tabouli (or other carb) - shake from pasteurized egg whites & fruit (or low-carb protein powder and fruit) - egg custard pudding (from Berardi's site, I think) with berries (it isn't all that custardy) - piece of approved BFL cheesecake (there are several recipes) - piece of pumpkin egg pie (there are several recipes floating around) - egg poppers (from bodybuilding.com, I think - basically egg white cooked in ice cube trays, flavored with sugar-free koolaid); I'm planning to make savory variations on this, using minced vegs, fish, potatoe, tomatoe etc PS - I like my egg/oat pudding at room temperature (1 cup egg whites, 1/3 cup rolled oats, 1/3 cup water + cinnamon and splenda; nuke in glass bowl for about 3 minutes, to desired consistency; add protein powder if needed) PS - the oatmeal snack you've been having needs protein HTH n At 04:48 AM 4/9/2006, you wrote: >i dont want to burn out on string cheese and fruit or cottage cheese >and fruit lol > >i tried viewing meal plans on the club filesbut my computer won't open >them. Guest guest
Alyssa - Go to www.bodyforlife.com Select the Nutrition/Recipe tab, On the left, you'll see SAMPLE MEAL PLAN; I think it's also in the book You can use this as reassurance about the carbs. Also, as I said before - if what you're doing is working, relax. n At 07:29 AM 4/9/2006, you wrote: >kinda both. Guest guest
When I have that oatmeal thing, I put in a scoop of chocolate protein powder and peanut butter. It's very good and filling! As long as you are seeing results, you're fine. You need carbs to sustain all of the heavy workouts. I find when I start limiting carbs, I don't have the energy to put a lot into my workouts! Guest guest
Relax, you could eat starchy carbs at all six meals if you wanted. On days when you're active and starving, there's nothing wrong with using filling foods like potatoes, pasta, oats, and whole wheat bread. On days when you're not as active or hungry, maybe you go with less calorie-dense carbs like berries, apples and squash. Most days will be a combination of the two. A lot of people try to eat the starchy carbs earlier in the day, especially post-workout, and then go with lighter choices at night. But base your carb choices on your own hunger, energy level, and results, not on what everybody else is doing. On 4/9/06, Alyssa <alyssie@...> wrote: > > kinda both.
