oh god, Vicky, that's so awful. I'm so sorry to hear that. I simply do not understand how people who tell such awful lies about disabled children can actually walk out the door and carry on with their lives. I do hope that you find that you haven't lost the funding. Thinking of you,

How utterly

shocking ! THE B******S!!!

Our ed psych and private SLT (both hired

for tribunal evidence) said that occasionally the outcome of a tribunal is

nothing like you would have predicted on the day and that works both ways

round. So here’s hoping ….

I hate them though Vicky, what has

ever done to deserve that attitude?

Keeping fingers crossed for the outcome,

What do you do next? They can't get away with this. We've been lucky

never to have to go to tribunal so can't offer concrete advice. Who is

your MP, what can other people do to help, is there a precedent that

another parent is getting that you want? What exactly do you want that

they're not providing? What evidence can you gather to disprove what

they're saying. They have a huge vested interest in being bastards -

there are nowhere near the resources to support autism that are

needed. We were lied to but got lucky by sussing them out within 24

hours of our meeting and they caved. This is a tough nut but you will

crack it. Thinking of you

Hi Vicky,

Can REALLY SYMPATHISE with you, having been at tribunal twice and hearing the

crap/lies from Headteacher of how wonderful LEA education is. Hard to get

parental side across against £100,000 headteacher. Keep fighting - 2007 will be

our third tribunal unless we move to another LEA.

Vicky,

Wait and see what the outcome is, but did you take notes of the lies

told? If not, write it all up now, before you forget what was said and

by whom. In September a Tribunal ruling was overturned in the High

Court because an LEA witness had misled the Tribunal and the misleading

evidence had had an effect on the Tribunal's decision. The Appellants

(ie, the parents) got costs against the LEA and the decision

overturned. There now will be another Tribunal (may have already

happened). It involved Croydon LEA and I know that Melinda Nettleton

was involved in the High Court Appeal on the parents' behalf, so she

will be very up to date on what can be done about LEA lies - sosorry, I

meant " misleading evidence " .

With any luck you'll have won on Friday, any way..

What we need is someone with the time and energy to start collating

all of these horrible experiences into a document and submit it to

the government and media. What awful reading it would make. I would

love to know how the average parent can afford to lose £20,000 or

even to find £20,000 for their child's education. Its scandalous and

so very wrong, evil even.

We all suffer our own little battles it seems, in relative silence

cause nobody outside of the confines of our own families ever gets

to hear about the crap we go through. Why should we be silent??

In total we have spent about the same amount of money on ABA, and

got minimal funding recently which will cover 6 months worth of

consultant fees.

The consultants charge too much money in my estimation, the LEA's

know that if we want it bad enough, we will mortgage our houses for

our children's education and nobody seems to be moving outside of

this vicious circle.

why do I pay my consultant £350.00 a day ? For that kind of money, i

could have 10 kids at my home teaching them as well. the whole

situation is just beyond belief.

sorry, dont want to take away from your current troubles. Success is

the best revenge and I hope and pray you get what you need for your

child as quickly as possible.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Vicky, having had a review last week which

was unpleasant enough, I can only imagine what you are going through.

Words cannot describe the fury I feel towards these people.

Thanks everyone for your support.

Really shocked at the idea of having to go through this 3 times Bridget!

To be honest I couldn't afford to go 3 times unless the legal people and experts are giving out discounts for repeat bookings.

Margaret Iv'e taken on board your advice of writing down the points that were misrepresented, any ideas how much it costs to appeal should this go against us?

We did put a complaint in during the tribunal itself about the chairs handling of matters in an unfair manner. Apparently we got the most antiparent chair possible, who rarely goes in favour of parents, she let the LEA have the entire morning and half the afternoon to put their case over, and interupted us several times to ask the other side what they thought!

At one point I completely lost it with her and ended up walking out, she did not want me to speak, even if she asked a question if she didn't get the answer she wished for she would try and shut me up.

I agree with the comment about £350 per day fees, we actually had no one that cheap, some were £700 per day, the cheapest was £400 per day, but expenses and VAT on top, and others between £200-£300 per hour!!!!

Like Peta's husband I think I need to be careful what I say on the www.
