Guest guest
I have a HUGE window AC. It took 3 men just to get it in the window. There is no way anyone will take it out and clean it for me. How in the world do I clean it in the window and what with? > > > air conditioners are hard. >
Guest guest
The best thing to do with a unit that has not been cleaned in a long time is to take it out and remove the cover and inspect the blower housing as well as the condenser coils and especially the evaporator coils. Because if you miss mold growing underneath the coils or in the blower housing, than a superficial cleaning will have no benefit. I don't remove my unit from the wall until the superficial cleanings quit working than I have no choice. What I do is remove the plastic grille from the front of it, and the filter and expose the evaporator coils and spray them with a commercial cleaner. YOU MUST RINSE THESE EXTREEMLY WELL even healthy people should not breath the residue from these cleaners, we defiantly cannot afford to. I don't know what else to say though, it's a catch 22, leave the mold their and be sick or kill the mold and breath the soap residue. I have gone for the soap residue. I just rinse really well and run the fan for about an hour before I close up the trailer and kick on the compressor. And even than if you can leave for a while and come back after it's been running if there is a residue yyou will smell it because your nose has not be desensitized to it. You need to do the same thing on the outside of these units, the coils on the back need to be cleaned, the bottom of the unit where all the algae grows needs to be cleaned. That's why I am moving to a colder climate it's just not practical to do. On Thu, 27 Jul 2006 04:38:27 +0000, you wrote: >I have a HUGE window AC.
