The first time I gave up Diet Pepsi I didn't fully consider my raging

caffeine addiction. The first thing I noticed was that I spent a lot

of time curled up on the floor in a fetal position with my head

pounding like a conga drum. I somehow toughed that out and went about

six weeks with no caffeine. I didn't lose or gain any weight, I got

tired of falling asleep sitting up, and I gradually went back to my

Diet Pepsi habit.

The second time was a couple of years ago when several people *swore*

to me that the carbonation made you look bloated and smoothed out your

muscle definition. So, for that experiment, I gave up everything with

bubbles but continued to drink ice tea so my head wouldn't explode.

After three weeks without carbonation, do you know what happened?

Nothing. It made no difference in pounds, inches, or caliper pinches.

And if it had any impact on visible muscle definition, I sure couldn't

see it.

So, I went back to being a happy, highly-caffeinated bubble junky. :-)

> That article on the diet pop kind of scared me. I know you have said that you

drink a lot of diet pop . I was just wondering if you have ever given it

up, and if so, what you noticed. I really have been trying to cut back, but I'm

so afraid that I'll replace the drinks w/ food and end up gaining of ton of

weight.

Hooray!! I'm so glad to hear that! All of the purists have me feeling really

guilty! I sometimes feel like I should be growing all of my own veggies and

herbs and raising free range chickens or something.
