Guest guest
Fruit going bad or getting moldy quickly has to do with a number of factors. Organic fruits will go bad much quicker. Many of the chemical sprays that are used on fruits are preservatives. So just because a fruit can sit out on your counter for a long time without getting moldy is not a good sign. Guest guest
bobbins, I know that is a factor, that organics go bad faster. It's even noticable when you buy it, unusally more signs of being bitten by larger bugs too, but I do know people who are very allergic and take mold counts in their homes frequently, have done alot of work on their homes to avoid mold and in one case built a home from scratch even part of which was done to do everything to avoid mold and microbial problems in home, who say they have noticed a difference in this, just as an incidental fact afterwards. These people went to this trouble due to severe illness or sensitivities to mold. It is a factor I assure you. --- bobbinsbiomed@... wrote: >> Fruit going bad or getting moldy quickly has to > do with a number of factors. > Organic fruits will go bad much quicker. Guest guest
Jeanine, My sincere apologies if I have offended you. My concern was for anyone that may have fruit sitting out on their counter that very quickly spoils and they now wonder if it is due to their living in a moldy environment, without understanding there may be causes unrelated to a moldy environment for this. We live with enough fear and trepidation in our home environments now because of prior exposures and subsequent illness due to sensitivity, that I felt this clarification was important. Forgive me if I have overstepped my bounds and assumed that there may be some who view the postings of this group that may have been unaware of this fact. I come to this group as a fellow traveler having experienced the journey that you and so many have experienced and continue to experience. This has been a learning experience for me that I try to share with others. Your contributions to this board have been enormous, if anybody should refrain from posting-it will be me. My apologies again. Guest guest
Jeanine, When you are in a group, any group, everyone is going to have an opinion. And there will be some individuals who, as you put it, will analyze everything to death. But, you don't have to allow what other people do, or say, bother you. You can't change anyone, so if they analyze you, or even critisize you, why should you care? Don't pay any attention to it. That's the great thing about the " mouse. " If you don't like their post, just click delete, and it's gone. It's history! Take care. And learn to be " the intimidator, " instead of the one who is " intimidated. Guest guest
Barbara, when I read you wrote, that is the great thing about the 'mouse', it reminded me that I heard 'mouse' was added to the dictionary as computer device, rather than just rodent, and new term for people sitting around surfing the net was coined as 'mouse potatoe'. Kind of cute and fits me. I've never been one to sit around but now I do and have to get off the 'mouse' once in awhile and get some physical activity. --- Barbara <floridabound03200@...> wrote: >> That's the great thing about the " mouse. Guest guest
Thanks to apologies that applied to me. Although my feelings we not hurt. I know that communication isn't exact enough to really know what the person was saying perfectly. Jeanine's posts are great and we want to continue to read them regardless of if she is having a bad day or not but that wasn't an example of a bad post Jeanine, just misunderstood one. I think it just proves that people who have been injured by mold become very sensitive to it and notice things that other people don't. --- tigerpaw2c <tigerpaw2c@...> wrote: > I'm sure no one has intentionally meant to step > on anyones toes or > to
Guest guest
Regarding onion test: I've looked to fruits and vegetables to tell me which may have nutrients that will protect my health from mold. Considering garlic is well known to kill mold and then watch it sit at room temperature on counter. It last FOREVER. I have never seen mold on garlic. Garlic will just get dry and shrivel up eventually until there is nothing much left of it. Onions are sulfuric like garlic and resists mold well but their skin will give in eventually to mold, but takes awhile, so onions probably would make good indicator as says. Carrots are very resistent to mold and apples also, so I think that could be a guide to good things to include liberally in diet of person trying to deal with mold. They are bound to share whatever substances they have that protect them with you. These are ones I've noticed but there are others. For carpet testing, you can send to Texas Tech. However I bet all carpeting would test positive for mold. If it's growing mold, you could probably see it or smell it, or pull it up and see if mold underneath. I find it hard to believe you could send carpet to be tested and it would come back negative for mold. All you could get is 'how moldy' and if you keep house dry, it shouldn't matter. So if you have carpeted house, I would think it is critical to keep house humidity below 50%, or get rid of it. I doubt any vaccum cleaner would be powerful enough to effective clean carpet of mold spores. I could be wrong but...? --- erikmoldwarrior <erikmoldwarrior@...> wrote: > > Msg 22456 Thu Jan 6, 2005 11:02 > am > Re: ^Testing carpet for mold and bacteria- how? > >
Guest guest
Our toes have been stepped on many times by the medical people (oops! can't bring myself to write professionals), family, friends, support groups, etc. it is no wonder we can become a little sensitive at times. also depends on how we are feeling perhaps. bbw <barb1283@...> wrote: Thanks to apologies that applied to me.
