Guest guest
It has been quite a few months and probably long forgotten, but we found out my daughter had met her maximum lifetime benefits, through EOB's, no less,.that said we now owed thousands upon thousands of dollars for her IVIG and other care. Then I found out we had a lousy self-funded policy, which meant we had zero recourse with the state insurance commissioner, instead, if it came to that, it would go to federal courts with little leverage on our side. A number of you were very encouraging...and I want to say thank you...it took me a while to get all my ducks in a row, get creative to find the names and addresses of all the important people...(such as President and CEO, Chief Medical officer-National, CMO-local, etc of both the insurance co and my former employer) Anyway, I received a phone call today from someone connected to the President & CEO of our insurance company, who was assigned to follow the appeal because, she said, I included the company president in my correspondence. She told me that all of the benefits spent toward my daughter's IVIG (2/3 of her lifetime maximum benefits) were being reversed back to her, all denied claims were being reprocessed, and if I had any questions or problems that I could call her (another huge relief after all the frustrating phone calls with reps pleading ignorance or apathy). God is good. We had our very best Christmas present early today. I can breathe. I can stop feeling guilty when my daughter is having pain but refuses to go to the dr because she knows there's no insurance (she is 20 now and definitely has a mind of her own). Wishing all of you an early very Merry Christmas (or Happy Hanukkah!). mom to , 20, cvid, jra
