We have never had a holiday, principally because I have not had a carer I could

take with us and I couldn't afford to pay them. There are also the additional

accommodation and travel costs involved when taking a carer.

Social services basically won't help - they say the carer would have to come out

of our community support hours, which would leave us very short the rest of the

year.Social services also won't help by approaching charities for help and I

don't have the energy to do this myself. So no holiday, yet again.

Are other local authorities more helpful? It would be good to know so I could

quote specific examples (no names) to them.

Margaret,

Break charity in Norfolk offers what looks like a fairly cheap self-catering holiday in Devon, but it may be too late for this year. Maybe next - or out of season?

Scroll down on this link (if I've got it right)

No holidays Margaret but there is the short breaks run by local councils, have you checked it out, would only be a couple or three days and you can take them with or without Henry. I will try and dig the info out later if you want. Think they provide funding for help or whatever is needed to make it possible.
