Guest guest
For some reason my post about yesterday's lame workout didn't show up until today, even though I wrote it last night. Anyway, today was The FIRM Complete Aerobics and Weight Training. If my spreadsheet is right, I haven't done this since November 17, 2008! I wrote "Fun workout!" in my notes and I'd write the same thing today. This was my first FIRM workout since last summer. I'm finally feeling well enough to take them on again!! My body/brain remembered most of the regular FIRM cues and I found myself moving along really well with it, except for one step routine on the fanny lifter that went too quickly for me today but I'm sure another it will be fine if I don't wait another year or more to do this one again! Welsh leads this and she was excellent. Her cues were mostly very easy to follow and announced in appropriate time to execute them. She's very enthusiastic too! She looks so young to me though, I must be getting old! This workout uses the fanny lifter, sculpting stick and dumbbells and was the first time I got to try out the sculpting stick I bought from someone on on yaya's at the end of last summer just after I injured my shoulder and just before I had my reconstruction surgery. I don't regret buying it, since it was pretty inexpensive, but I do admit, it is a gadget! ;-) I didn't think it was necessary for the lunges or leg presses and the "twigs" are really unnnecessary altogether since they're not any different from dumbbells except for their shape. The bar, without the twigs on it, was too light for some of the chest exercises toward the end too. Still, it is very well made and I can see using it as a body bar for other workouts. Plus, I have to admit, I really do like having the gadgets and at least, from that perspective, looking like the people in the video! I look forward too, to seeing how it functions in other FIRM workouts that were designed with it in mind. This workout seemed a lot easier than I was expecting it to be. Maybe because I had built up FIRMs in my head, I don't know. I did take it easier than I normally would have too because it is almost an hour long and I didn't remember anything about it, plus I was testing myself out doing it. On top of that, life has been pretty rough lately and I just plain didn't have a lot of energy. We finally got some very important changes made to things happening at school (for ) though, late this afternoon and long after my workout, but I think the changes are going to make life with much (MUCH) more pleasant for all of us and maybe I'll actually get some decent sleep again too! Anyway, next time I do this one, I'll go heavier for most exercises than the 3, 5 and 8 pound dumbbells suggested (except for the shoulder work, the silly 2 pound twigs were almost perfect for that for me and my wimpy shoulders) and definitely use heavier weights on the chest work too. I did respect that and most of the others did pushups on toes though (I did too). The kids are off school tomorrow but we're leaving the house before 8 for a doctor appointment for (nothing serious) so I should still be able to get a workout in pretty easily afterwards. I'm half thinking I might do this one again! We'll see though. I'm excited to be FIRMing again though and will probably stick with some kind of FIRM workout for tomorrow and possibly the foreseeable future too!
