Guest guest
Thank you for the artical on bone health that addresses Ostesoperosis. I was recently diagnosed with osteopina which really surprised my immunologist that my bones were going to hell in just under three years of being diagnosed hiv poz and always had great numbers. In fact I am on Complera and my cd4 is 889 and am undetectable and have been for two years. So he put me on 500mg of calcium twice a day. He did not increase my D3 as I am already taking 4000 units a day. I have a few questions if anyone has the answer: 1) How common is osteopnia in hiv patients (I am 59 and never had a bone issue before). 2) Will the calcium suppliment slow down the progression from osteopina to osteoperosis or am I destined for that too? 3) Is there anything else I can do to keep this from getting worse? 4) Dumb question...since adding the calcium two days ago my thighs ache. Is that from the calcium (is there an optima ammount of calcium one should take and any suggestions on what kind or is any brand fine?) Thanks in advance for your advice...Max
