Guest guest
Hi , I think it is some sort of formula that is based on your resting heart rate, which, in theory, if you're fit would be lower than "average". Although, some medications do artificially lower your HR. My DH is on a BP med that lowers his HR - I joke that his is lower than mine - his from meds, mine from exercise! Women also have faster HRs. I think it is due to size - I'm not sure what the formula is though...but I'm sure someone will pop in. I did Ultimate Calorie Blaster this morning. I was drenched in sweat. I didn't get off to a great start - tired and TOM! GRR! But, once I got going I was fine. The humidity and heat are picking up again. But, this is a fun workout. The Hips, THighs and Abs really tortured my LB. My legs are MORE sore today than yesterday. I don't know what did it. I wonder if TOM could be responsible for some oft his extra DOMS? I hear you recover more slowly during TOM.....and being in the dreaded peri-meno years, I have just have inconsistent experiences from month to month. *SIGH* Take care!Donna From: <nancydewolf@ sbcglobal. net>Subject: Ultimate Calorie BlasterDate: Thursday, June 10, 2010, 10:36 AM I just did this for I think, the 4th time now. I actually liked it today. I didn't get nearly as much of a calorie burn as I would have thought I did for as hard as I worked but one thing I did do was let my heart rate stay in the mid to upper 150s for a lot longer than normal in an effort to build my endurance at higher intensity level. I normally try to keep it close to but not over 150. Not sure if this is necessary or not for fitness though. I mostly wanted to see how it would go. It was very hard especially because the room was very warm but I did well overall. I hadn't planned to do it, I just kept looking at my HRM and seeing 155, 157 and said, hmmm... and thus was born a mini challenge. I might change my settings on my HRM next time I do this one so that the upper number is 160 and see how long I'm in my zone then. It is set for 133-150 now and I was in it for about 17 minutes I think, but a lot of the time I was well beyond it. Anyway, beyond all that, I'm getting better at the choreography and muscle memory actually took over a little bit. I was able to get into my "this is hard but just focus" for some of it too which felt great. I'm still not sure I want to give Maximum Cardio Burn 3 or 4 chances (after 2 I hated it more) and Cardio Sculpt Blaster, the other one I discovered I'm not liking a bit, comes up one more time in this rotation so I will try it again but we'll see what happens to it after that. Life is too short to spend it trying to learn difficult choreography if I'm not enjoying the challenge or anything else about the workout! :-) Today's the last full day of school. I'm ready but not. Our school closes tomorrow. The teachers have to have their rooms emptied by the end of next week. It is going to be strange and sad but there's a lot to look forward with the newness of next year too and first, there is summer.
