Guest guest
Seems to me like a spambot that gets into a person's address book and starts sending out links but it looks like it's from the person instead of a spambot. They're active members here - in a group this size, it can be hard to keep track sometimes Still - for future reference, if junk or spam links come through, even with active members, I will use the " moderated " feature to prevent the links (and other members from clicking on them) - not as a punishment, but just as a protection until the person's computer (or e-mail account) are fixed ~ Kim (mod) > > NOTICE - > > I've deleted the two " Unknown " messages that just appeared - they were spam links that somehow got through. I don't know who the member is but I'll check it out. The second message (the one below) appears to be a malware site which I am removing from this group (when I checked the link in a new window, my protection software flashed a " malware " warning screen). To , please check your computer to make sure it's okay. You can go to http://www.symantec.com and I think they have a free check. McAfee.com may also have free software if it's needed. > > All new members, for several months now, are on moderated status for the first few months (we get quite a few " junk " applicants and sales pitches, unfortunately). That's what " moderated " is for to keep links like this out - sometimes it's needed. > > My apologies - some junk is hard to prevent. > > - Kim (mod) > ________________________________________ > > > I hope this link wasn't a virus. I clicked on it and it was something about Canada and health care. Not sure how it is relevant to IOWL. I hope Jon Gunter lets us know! > > > > ________________________________ > From: Colleen <collrobinson@...> > weightloss > Sent: Thu, December 31, 2009 12:02:09 PM > Subject: Re: (unknown) > >  > I don't click on links that have no explaination (easiest way to pick up a computer virus or have malware installed on your computer). If these are valid links (this is the second one from this email address), could you please put a subject on your post and a sentence or two explaining what the link is (story, article, quiz) and how it related to IOWL? > > thanks! > > ____________ _________ _________ __ > From: Jon Gunther <jonandpeggy2> > weightloss @groups. com; jonandpeggy2; stephenminton@ comcast.net; pdgunthergmail (DOT) com > Sent: Wed, December 30, 2009 9:13:55 PM > Subject: [insideoutweightlos s] (unknown) >
