Guest guest
hey donna, i think this is one of those you don't have to have if you have other barre workouts that are more your thing. i think while this has barre type exercises a lot of it is traditional light weight arm work and pilates style exercises. i like more of these types of fusion workouts and i find this one is good for lighter days mainly b/c i find the lower body segment more flowing and that loosens me up. but if anybody had to ask me if this was a must have i would probably say its one you wouldn't be missing to much if you didn't. kassiaLDY_SOLANA'S fITNESS BLOGLDY_SOLANA'S WEBPAGElast purchase 3-12-1061 virgin workouts left60 only done once workouts leftowner of 328 workout dvds & 62 fitness related booksFrom: Donna M-P <donna112520@...>Subject: Thursday - Austin Body Makeover MixTo: Date: Thursday, April 1, 2010, 7:30 AM Hi, This has unintentionally turned into a "virgin" week. I knocked off another this morning - Austin's Body Makeover Mix which is a barre-inspired workout. It has 3 separate segments - upper body, lower body and abs/core. Each segment is 15 minutes long. So, it is great for adding on - mixing and matching, etc. The good: This is a barre inspired workout that does not bug my back! Although there is a little pelvic tucking thrown in here and there, it is easy for me to leave it out and just hold an isometric contraction without the tucking. The bad: It just didn't "inspire" me. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but I didn't love the workout. Maybe it just wasn't my "thing". was ok - she was subdued, but she still had her breathy voice and talked about working your "tush" so it looks good in your jeans. So, the usual -isms. I'm not sure if that is what bugged me or not. I don't think it is b/c generally I can ignore a lot if I like the workout. There is an option to do the workout w/ just music and no denise, so once you learned it you could tune her out. Bottom Line: I'm not sure if this is a keeper or not. I'm honestly on the fence b/c on the one hand, it would be nice to have a barre-style workout that doesn't irritate my back for when I'm in the mood for something a little different than Pilates. But, I do have Kathy 's Barre-style workout and I like that one better. And, to quote Kassia "nothing has value if it doesn't get used" -and I'm not sure if this is one I'd reach for very often. So this may end up in the trade/give-away pile. I'm not sure what is up for tomorrow - later today while DD has a playdate w/ one of her school friends DH and I are going to take a walk. Hope everyone has a good day!Donna
