What can I say? This is all so familiar. I have been reading Henry's NHS OT and

SALT records. They record Henry's vocal stims have been going on since March

(school says " only very recent " , " a one-off " etc); that he was banging radiators

in the corridor when they said that has stopped. That his weekly speech therapy

group didn't happen for 16 months on end.(They've done him out of 90 speech

therapy groups in 4 years.) That his sensory diet in class didn't happen in 2008

because the TA didn't feel like it, basically, ditto 2009 - this despite the

best efforts of the OT.

Well worth the £50 and the nagging when they failed to send all the records the

first time.

Reading all the files made me feel like giving up - there's so much repetition

of the theme - this is the paediatrician and so on, that it's all about Mum

needing to be better organised, -not about providing help. The OT in 2002

actually said thia. At the time he was waking for 2 or 3 hours in the night and

I was getting 1 1/2 hours respite a week and he wasn't getting any early

intervention and I was frantic about it. The horrible situation was of course

all my fault.

Vicky, I don't know what you can do, except get him out of there? But is there

anywhere else for him to go? The files show the conspiracy between these

professionals to provide as little real help as possible, usually, but not

always. The NHS SALT has recently written a report which she submitted to the LA

solicitor in draft and amended it at his suggestion until it was just right for

him.

autistic, challenging behaviour, non verbal child with limited chance of progress

now claim to have made that progress, along with the odd new person thrown into

the mix.
