adding Ritalin

Hi all,

I had a meeting at school today for my 11yo son. He's on Lexapro for

OCD, but is very inattentive, he's either reading or thinking about

what he's reading all day. (He wouldn't eat if we didn't take books

away from him) The psychiatrist had been saying that he's probably

overfocusing and a stimulant might make him worse. We had tried it once

before when he hadn't been diagnosed with OCD, and it didn't help. Now

he's having so much trouble focusing at school the teacher wants to

consider waiving him out of french class so he could use the time to

make up for the tests he doesn't finish during other classes. He also

can't pronounce any french words because he doesn't listen at all in

class. Now the psychiatrist is considering adding Ritalin. He's also

might raise his Lexapro dose because his OCD isn't under control, and

he won't work on therapy. Anyone have any experiences with doing that?

I prefer to work on one problem at a time, but when you start talking

about taking him out of a class because he isn't learning anything, I

start to wonder.

Thanks,
