Guest guest
I think my reply to the question about who didn't get on the council got left out in the last report because my name was there but not what I had said. I think this autism council discussion is like a broken record. Over the years it keeps being discussed about how no one seems to get on the Council. I sent in my resume about two years back, when the last discussion of this took place, and heard nothing. I don't think it has to do with education but, if you ask me, it has to do with campaign contributions and politics. I wouldn't expect that many of us are card carrying Republicans, especially with the cuts these days. I have the college degree. I am told that my advocacy started the PPP program, which was a state funded program before the Medicaid Waiver programs such as HCS took hold in Texas. I am on our local MHMR's Advisory council and am a member of a attendant care advisory for projects underway in the state to help people needing attendant care. My son with autism is 30 years old.
