Guest guest
Hi! My daughter is 2 and has hypogammaglobulinemia and CVID. I had a question for you all... Does any of your children when they are acutely ill (i.e. culture out enormous amounts of bacteria) make NO increase in their WBC?? My daughter can be borderline bacteriemic and still mount no response from her WBC's or any other cell for that matter. Her immunologist feels that they've not even begun to grasp what all is dysfunctional in Cambrie's immune system, but feel strongly that her inability to mount a response is directly related to the part they just quite haven't figured out yet. I was wondering if any of you guys experience the same problem? And, how do you go about explaining it to other doctors (pediatrician/ER physician), who the first thing they want to do is draw a CBC and treat based on numbers and not appearance? Thanks!
