Guest guest
Hi , This used to happen to me a lot in the early stages of this weight loss journey. At the time, I was extremely careful about calories, and exercising a LOT. Basically I was eating enough to last 3 hours, and if I didn't eat within 3.15 hours, my blood sugar would totally crash. But I wouldn't feel hunger signals. Since I started listening to IOWL over a year ago, and trying for the naturally slender, self-correcting approach, I think this crash with no hunger has happened maybe 5 times. I'm not sure exactly what the difference is. I'm exercising less (but enjoying it more). I'm less rigid about my intake--both in terms of counting calories and in terms of allowing, um, less nutritionally dense foods.... (Which means that my plateaus are longer and my loss is slower, but I'm close enough to my goal weight that this is actually what I want.) I do still use the clock as a tool. If I start feeling like eating and less than 3 hours have passed, it's a sign that I need to check in to see if it's true hunger or if something else is going on. And if I see that 4 hours have passed, I start looking for those signs of blood sugar crashes. (Irritability is one of the first, actually. Then difficulty concentrating... which actually makes it harder to analyze whether I'm having a blood sugar crash.) So maybe going by the clock, at least at first, would help you start sorting out your signals? If you're still not really feeling it after trying this for a few weeks, you might want to consider buying 's Appetite Adjuster guided journey. I didn't need it so much for knowing when I was hungry, but it made a big difference for me in recognizing full.... ________________________________ From: <VBLOCK78@...> weightloss Sent: Sat, November 20, 2010 2:48:46 AM Subject: Knowing when hungry I have been doing alot of thinking regarding when I am truly hungry. I have identified that I don't realize I am hungry until I am ravenous. Anyone else have this problem too? I have been trying to " tune in " to cues but just seems like I go from full and not hungry to starving. Any insight would be appreciated! Guest guest
-- I have the same issue. I dont trust my hunger cues. When I eat (not restrict) it seems like I feel hunger more often. I am a bit afraid to give into that hungry feeling because a part me believes that my body does not trust me to not restrict so it wants me to eat as often as possible so that it will not be famished. In truth I understand why my body might not trust me.... This week I am going to try to create a food plan and stick to it and eat on a schedule. However, I am also going to try to be kind to myself if things change. Thanksgiving for me is hugely triggering so I am going to go into the day with both a plan and cards that address my triggers and how I am going to handle the feelings in a kind and gentle way.
