,

Thanks for the reminder. Sleep is the tme when the body shuts down to recover

from all the exertion and stress of the day. This is especially important for us

and our comorbidities, as well as individuals with other chronic illness. Taking

a nap or 2 if you need is good, however, nap time is not deducted from sleep

time. I find if I pace myself during the day, which may be difficult for people

with busy and hectic work demands and stress that are uanavoidable, I try not to

overload my social calendar and commitments to the community. It is okay to say

" No " from time to time to friends who call to have you join them. Weekends are

no exception. You are just taking care of the machine called your body.

Another reason good sleep hygiene is important: I talked with one of the psychiatrists I work with about techniques for helping me with my problems in getting content transferred from short-term to long-term memory.  She told me to look up " memory consolidation. "   I did so, and almost all of the articles I found stressed ... good sleep hygiene.  So it's not just good for you, it's good for helping cognitive problems as well.
