Guest guest
One of my daughter's OCD issues is that everything has to be in its place. If anything is out of place it causes her tremendous anxiety and she will throw a fit. Today, her therapist was able to get the reason she does this out of her. My daughter told us that she associates everything in its place with a person being in control of their life and not having a mental illness. She thinks keeping everything in its place will somehow look, to others, like she does not have a mental illness and then she will not end up in a psychiatric hospital, which is a huge fear for her. She is also bipolar. It was the first time I ever heard her cleaning obsession related to her true fear of being hospitalized. It was an eye opening appointment for me. I know most don't think regular therapy is beneficial for OCD, but we are seeing her for multiple issues and actually learning a lot.
