Guest guest
Barb, When Tom was in the group home, we were not his legal guardians - Childrens Aid was. The judge that oversaw Tom's case was disgusted by the lack of treatment and poor consideration to Tom's mental health. They organized a cognitive behavioral therapist who worked part time at the Kingston Pennitentiary! No one was impressed and no, he didn't know how to treat ocd. The last straw was when Tom was at one of the 'better' homes. Tom wouldnt conform and they dropped him off at the Salvation Army Shelter to 'learn to appreciate what he has'. What he had was a great appreciation for ignorance, first hand knowledge that mental health issues are not treatable except by bullying, and fortuantly, the ability to call us when in trouble. The Smart crisis unit is now being run by Youth Services Bureau - it has to be better than before. I can ask my old colleagues what they think. Due to me working in the system it was worse because I knew all the bad and decent places! I was such a thorn in their side! Strategize and try to make some potential IF plans... take care, eh, wendy, in canada --- barb <barbnesrallah@...> wrote: > Thanks for sharing .
