In honor of Autism Awareness Month, A.S.C.E.N.D.-ER, Inc. proudly presents Autism Spectrum Disorders 101, April 15th from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. Our meeting will be held at Parkway Presbyterian Church, located at 5830 Bethelview Road, Cumming, GA. This useful and interesting talk will be presented by our own Dr. Sue . It will provide a review of the criteria for diagnosing the various forms of

autism, diagnostic procedures, symptoms including sensory issues, and strategies for overcoming the challenges these difficulties present,

particularly in the school setting. Parents are strongly encouraged to invite other family members, teachers, therapists, or other professionals

involved in their child's care. As an added incentive for our teachers and school professionals to attend, we will be offering school supply baskets as door prizes especially for those school professionals. Teachers and other school professionals only will need to register either by calling 678-300-8687 or by e-mailing info@.... Those professional attendees who both register and attend the meeting will be placed in a drawing for these three lovely baskets. So be sure to invite your teacher!

Dr. Sue is a psychologist who is in private practice with over twenty-five years of clinical experience in various settings and with all

age groups. She worked for 10 years in a rehabilitation facility conducting neuropsychological testing and interventions for those with various types of brain injuries and illnesses. She has several years experience working in the school setting in different capacities involving counseling, consulting, teacher training, and testing at all grade levels. For the past several years, she has specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders and provides ongoing consultative and training services to schools. She was instrumental in founding and organizing Forsyth County's autism support group and 501©3 organization, ASCEND-ER, and serves on the Advisory Board of the Monarch Program at the Emory Autism Center as well as for ASCEND-ER.
