I've been going to thrift stores & buying any kind of container I can get my

hands on. The first book I ever read on it , The essential Kombucha , she used

everything, fishbowls, big salad bowls. I have used glass beer pitchers, slow

cooker inserts, vases etc. Restaurants & bars throw out gal. jars all the time,

the marachino cherries, olives, etc. come in them.

Subject: Hibernating scobies

kombucha tea

OK, it has been 9 days since I jump started them with some more very sweet tea.

It has grown a very beautiful huge off white smooth top and bottom 1/3 in. thick

baby in the 1 gal jar it is living in. The tea tastes blah tho, little to no

fizz. This baby has NO ooglies. Does this mean not enough yeast action? Should I

leave it longer? Give up on it and toss tea and keep baby? My other one in the

half gal jar has also formed a nice baby with ooglies and the tea tastes yummy.

Sweet and tart at the same time with nice fizz. I want to bottle that up and

start my 3rd batch probably with ebay mom and both babies but I want to use my 1

gal jar that hibernating scobies are in. I really need to do this within the

next day or 2 and I don't really want to buy another jar. Or maybe I will got to

Wal Mart and buy a gal jar of pickles and , , , ,toss the pickles, , , ,so I can

use the jar. I don't really like pickles and don't know anybody who would want a

whole gal of

them. Help!

Sue
