Jerry,

I live in North Tacoma Washington and I LOVE to visit those same places :)

We have not had a Doctor doing the DS in this state in a long time. Dr. Heap

in Eastern Washington was for a while but is no longer. We have heard that a

lot of the reason is political, that the old timer RNY Doctors have a lot of

hospital clout and see no need for more choices for patients. This is heresay

but from some relieable sources.

Well one of the new surgeons to the area is hooked up with an old timer

Doctor. His name is Srikanth and he spent some time at USC working with Dr.

Anthone. He is " willing " to do a DS (he has done about 100) on a patient who

insists but has been trying to discourage them from their choice. So I have to

wonder about a Doctor who has done both surgeries but isn't totally convinced of

the superiority of the DS.

I find it all totally interesting and I wanted to be available as

SUPPORT for those going first in to the DS surgeries in this area. I will not

forget the wonderful strangers who sent cards to me and stopped to visit me when

I

was in DRMC to tell me I WOULD be glad I had the DS and offer tips on getting

through the early days. I want to offer a little of that to patients in my

area. I live about a mile from the hospital they will be doing this surgery at.

So I am putting myself out there and a bit out of my comfort zone. And I am

doing it because of the wonderful support I have learned from the Dr. K & Z

" family " .

Wow sorry to get so long winded. If you can make it up this way I sure

would love to have you at one of our support group meetings. My sweet hubby

often attends his is the BEST support.
