A.S.C.E.N.D.-ER's May Meeting

A.S.C.E.N.D.-ER (Autism Spectrum Community Efforts and New Directions,

Exceptional Resources) announces our May 2006 meeting. This month our

speakers will be Sebastian, a young man with Asperger's Syndrome; his

mother ; and his teacher for the last 3 1/2 years, Dave ,

Director of The Community School (formerly known as The Lionheart School).

The Community School is a program for adolescents with developmental

challenges.

, and Dave will discuss their individual and shared experiences

learning to identify the issues in a challenging child and finding

appropriate services, including educational programs. has reached a

point of wonderful self-reflectiveness about his own history and his ongoing

challenges. His experience offers both insight and hope to parents

struggling to understand and address their own children's issues.
