you always have to prime it til the end, when you see the small drop come out of

each needle you are primed, you cant prime it half way, the point of priming is

to get it all the way in the line, wasnt a nurse at home with you to train you?

I am quite sure they wouldnt let you only do it half, we do it on Makenzies

tummy as well because she is so skinny too, as long as you are two finger

lengths away from the belly button all the way around it you are good, and if

you do them on the same side they have to be 3 fingers apart from each site. As

for the burning, you will have that some days more than others, but what helps

is to make sure you leave the meds out at room temp for a good while before (it

burns less at room temp) I set mine out this morning (away from any heat source

and light) and we will infuse around 5 tonight when my daughter gets home from

school (have to put the EMLA cream on first) make sure the cream is at least on

30 minutes to an hour

before the infusion, also if it burns, have him lightly tap his finger around

the site, it will help (no scratching) we have the Freedom 60 pump as well, I

find that the priming is the pain lol, we prime it ourselves as it takes to long

to prime with the pump, so we prime first by hand (the nurse taught us this)  my

hubby is strong and can do it fast, you just have to watch the ends for when

that little drop comes on each needle and you are ready to go!! Kenzie uses 6mm

needles too, good luck, also maybe if you gave him Benadryl a bit before that

could help if he has a big problem with itching.
