Guest guest Posted September 29, 2009 Report Share Posted September 29, 2009 I'm a newbie to this group and have been listening to for a couple of weeks now. She is great. Listening to her podcast is forcing me to look at this whole weightloss journey in a whole new light. One thing I know about myself for sure, is that what is holding me back is that I have always used food to fill in the gaps in my life. I have a lot of anxiety and food helps to calm my nerves. Also, I really hold myself back socially and as far as any extracurricular activities are concerned - this creates a feeling of lack - food helps to fill that. Any need that needs fulfilling, I fill with food because its easy and its what I've always done. The short time in my life when I was at an ideal weight, I turned to alcohol, to take the place of eating. I've come to the realization that the extra weight is just the symptom. That alot of areas in my life need an overhaul. The weight is just the result of not dealing with those issues. Why do I hold myself back, because I haven't tapped into the courage to address those issues...so I hide behind food and the extra weight and as a result I dont live with my whole being.
