Guest guest
After more than a year of searching for a southern Arizona physician who could both perform this procedure and whose services were covered by my insurance, my search was recently successful. I have had the procedure and three weeks later received the results of the biopsies, which were taken only because there were some areas of my anal canal that showed a slight 'thickening' (her words). I did not tell her that I found this fact unsurprising in a middle-aged gay man, who had spent years " practicing " before the advent of AIDS. In any event, the biopsies were negative for any dysplasia and I am greatly relieved. I wish to thank for this list, and also the other users who offered me encouragement and advice both on and offlist, regarding this procedure. I might not have fought long enough to get this to happen, without the support I get from this list. And now my personal physician has a reference for his other HIV patients (which are all he serves, in fact) who may also be worried about their susceptibility to this type of cancer. If anyone wishes to know who this local doctor was who performed the surgery, I will be happy to supply her name offlist. A.Vip
