Guest guest
Hi Everyone,This morning was Day # 2 - of the 2-a-day PowerFit/Harmony & Plus rotation - PowerFit Cardio - I wore my weighted gloves and used my step and basically tried to use the largest range of motion possible for each exercise - also added a bit of impact when it made sense to do so. I found it to be pretty challenging this way! So, a decent cardio workout plus a short set of standing abs (my favorite way to train abs!) in 20 min!PowerFit Harmony - Strong Push - I kept my weighted gloves on for this one. I also used the green band that came w/ the Harmony set. Previously, I had been using my old bands (mostly the blue one from Dozois' workouts). I didn't realize the the bands that came w/ Harmony and PowerFit were so short! The bands I had been using were around 5-6ft (I would choke up on them as needed for resistance) Some things will definately be more challenging with the shorter band, I think. But other things will be impossible with it (like the compound moves of delt flies and dips). For those exercises, I will stick with my longer band and just choke up on it as necessary. I also like the longer band for the foorwork - otherwise, w/ the shorter band I'm sure the band would slip off my foot. Overall though, I enjoyed Push! Next time around I may add on weights for some of the unweighted squats and dips - but doing it without has some benefits also - like a larger range of motion for me.After Strong Push I did a new (to me) workout - Mari Winsor's 20 min workout from the original set. Mari is not one of my favorite instructors, for some reason. I didn't like either Shape workout that she did. But, I did actually like this one! There is nothing unique in it - just your basic matwork (including the side series) - but the pace is actually quite slow so you feel each rep more than if you moved quickly and relied on momentum. What is lacking in this workout for me is extension exercises - like swimming, etc. I need to do a lot of extension exercises for my back - so I have to add those in on my own when I do this workout. Even just hanging out for a short time in cobra pose would be helpful. It seemed sometimes there was too much set up time between exercises, but I can forgive that b/c I really felt this workout by slowing down the pace on these classic exercises.Hope everyone has a good day - I think tomorrow is back, biceps and core balance. I will likely add on cardio - 20 min of something and maybe 10 min of stretching. Take care,Donna
