Guest guest
Also saw on another list that the press conference with Wakefield, others got pretty heated. Also that CBS was just covering in Chicago - hadn't gone national yet. Hopefully Jeff or someone will post more details soon from the conference. Dear Subscriber, Several speakers representing the Center for Disease Control (CDC) were booed off the stage this morning at the Autism One Conference in Chicago. The parents were protesting the highly biased IOM report, funded and directed by the CDC, which insists that vaccines are perfectly safe. Security police escorted the CDC representatives out of the hall. CBS News was present and taped the events. Contact your local CBS television affiliates and ask them to broadcast this newsworthy event. Related news may appear as early as Friday night. Guest guest
Hi: This is a much more accurate explanation than what has been previously circulated. My best. Peacefully, Jeff ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From " Lujene " <lujene@...> The events as relayed by Steve E are NOT accurate. I am currently attending the Autism One conference. I was IN the meeting where Bernier (CDC) spoke Friday morning. While a few people (I was one of them, Dr. Boyd Haley, Dr. Porte and an RN from Illinois) challenged Dr. Bernier's statements (sometimes loudly and forcefully) I do not recall anyone booing, especially booing him off the stage. He completed his talk and adjourned to another room where he continued to speak with numerous parents for approximately 2+ hours (although the content of the answers were more of the same old dodge and evade that we have seen from the CDC for years). CBS Evening News did film and interview several parents, however, it will not appear until possibly next week. Kathleen Stratton of the IOM spoke an hour later and she had a similar experience (although when Dr. Wakefield and Dr. Haley challenged the report it made her very uncomfortable.) She did however, complete her talk and even adjourned to the same room w/Dr. Bernier of the CDC and continued to answer questions for approximately 1 hour. While two hotel security personnel were available and visible, no one posed a threat or necessitated an " escort " or " bodyguard " . They walked behind and/or with them but they have done this for several speakers to guide the speakers and conference participants to an ancillary room for additional questions. They (the security) have remained available throughout the entire conference even after the two somewhat contentious presentations. By the way, a clarification on what Conrick wrote. CBS was here filming. It IS for a CBS evening news story; I know because they interviewed me on numerous occasions throughout the day (we talked for almost 45 minutes wherein I provided documentation, including Simpsonwood, WHO memo, etc and referred them to our website, NoMercury.org, for additional evidence). Additionally, an independent film crew was filming a documentary demo (NOT connected to Autism One). They have done projects for PBS Frontline and HBO and plan to use the material (demo) to market this film project to the same people. I have first hand knowledge of this as well. Lujene G.
